Several years ago, I had the incredible privilege of volunteering with Make-A-Wish New Mexico.
One day, I had the honor of dressing as Spider-Man to help deliver a puppy named Archie to an extraordinary young man named Mikey.
Although our time together was brief, it left a lasting impact on me. Mikey's courage, joy, and spirit are something I have never forgotten.
Earlier this year, I attended Make-A-Wish New Mexico's Wine & Wishes event. During the evening, a tribute honoring Mikey was shown. I wasn't expecting it, and it brought back every memory from the day I met him.
As I began training for the 2026 Lobo Cancer Challenge 5K, I knew I wanted every mile to have meaning.
Before making that decision, I reached out to Mikey's family to ask for their blessing. They graciously gave it, and I am deeply honored to run this race in Mikey's memory.
Every dollar donated supports the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center and helps provide hope, groundbreaking research, and compassionate care for patients and families throughout New Mexico.
If you're able, I hope you'll consider making a donation in honor of Mikey and in support of everyone whose lives are touched by cancer.
Thank you for helping turn remembrance into hope.
