Snowy Owl Trail Race
Event Description
The Snowy Owl Trail Race is a 5 mile trail race through the sweeping trails, overlook, mountaintops, and waterfronts of the Mountain Lakes Park in North Salem NY on Sunday, December 13, 2026.
The course starts and ends in the Yurt Village at Camp Morty inside the park. The village features a large firepit with an amphitheater that will serve as the gathering spot for runners before and after the race. The fire pit will have a roaring fire going to warm people up.
The race will support trail projects at Mountain Lakes Park. The park has over 10 miles of trails on its 1000+ acres. It also abuts and joins with trail systems from four other parks - two in North Salem NY and two in Ridgefield CT. This extends the trail system to nearly 14 miles.

FAQs
Packet pickup is in the Yurt Village under the pavillion.
Yes there will be race day registration. The registration and bib pickup will open at 7:30am on race day.
Yes parking is free. Race day parking is at the Hemlock Lake parking field. Be sure to leave 10 minutes to walk to the start / finish line area at the Yurt Village near Spruce Lake.
Yes there will be porta-potties at the start/finish.
There will be one water stop on the course at around the halfway point.
The start & finish are at the fire pit in the Yurt Village field in the Camp Morty area of Mountain Lakes Park.
There are race shirts & hooded sweatshirts for sale during online registration. We may have shirts available on race morning but it depends on pre-orders which may sell out the shirts ordered prior to race day. Best bet is to purchase a shirt and/or sweatshirt when you sign up online.
Dogs are allowed at the park (leashed) but our insurance provider does not permit dogs to run in the race.
We prefer you do not use headphones / earbuds. But if you need them please keep one ear free so you can hear what is going on around you.
