Totowa Recreation with support of its Mayor and Council has put this small town on the map provided the return of its LIVE 5K and introduction of an "On Course" and "Anywhere" VIRTUAL event!

The 2nd Annual TOTOWA 5K Turkey Trot Mayors Walk and Run is back from another running... alongside two (2) virtual events. There are three (3) options to get involved! Covid-19 cant keep this town down! No matter which event you pick all participants will receive an "Official" Sport-Tec long sleeve T-shirt!

Option #1 - Are you from the area and want to run a socially distant timed turkey trot? Then the timed "LIVE" event is the option for you! Here are those details:

Sunday, November 22nd the Totowa  Recreation Department will host a socially distant , slot-driven, chip-timed 5K!
The 5K course is slightly hilly in the middle but has a fast finish. Take a look below for the details!
Age-based pricing of $15 is being provided for those 20 and under and 65 and over! Registration closes 11-20-20 at 11:59pm so register now. Price will increase to $30 after 10/31 through registration close.
Teacher, Military, Police, Fire... those that serve us can take $5 off entry at anytime online using code SERVICE!
Active USATF members receive a $5 discount... 
There will be NO Race Day Registration so be sure to preregister early and reserve on of the available 475 spots on the starting line of this "GREAT COMMUNITY" 5K!
Packet Pickup will be held at Board of Recreation HQ; Mark Monteyne, Rec & Race Director, 490 TOTOWA Road, TOTOWA, NJ, 07512. Date to be provided closer to race time.  

Option #2 - Are you local but can't make the Turkey Trot LIVE Event? The TOTOWA 5K COURSE "AT YOUR LEISURE" (ANYTIME Challenge) will will challenge you to run/walk the Totowa 5K Challenge course prior to the LIVE event.

Interested in running the Totowa Challenge 5K course but are not around for the live event... then listen up! The month leading up to the live event the Borough of Totowa Recreation department will open the course for participant use. It will NOT be a closed course, meaning the streets will be accessible by vehicle traffic. However, the start/finish area will be marked, as will the mile markers. The start finish area is located on Campus Rd at the North end of the IPCO (company) driveway. Simply park your car in the Capezio parking lot, grab your phone with RunGo installed and take the certified course for a spin. Participants should follow all the rules of the road and alert the Totowa Rec Department of any issues.

Option #3 - You are not from the area and want to join in the festivities. The TOTOWA 5K VIRTUAL (ANYWHERE Challenge) will allow you to show your support while running a 5K of your own choosing!

We invite those outside our area to join us as well. Simply search routes using RunGo or run your own course. After submitting your time we'd like to include all newly created RunGo courses to the list below so others in "your neck of the woods" can give it a shot. Simply upload your photo with your story and we'll update our course listings. No better way to make your mark than becoming a part of it! Be the first from your state to post a course!

Virtual Results Submisson

Simply select the Results tab above, click the "Submit Virtual Results" button and lookup your entry. After which you will be transferred to the time entry page where you'll be able to formalize your time on the leader board... for all to see!

Not sure what course to run!?!?! Try one of these 3 methods...

One. Search the USATF Course Database for a course in your local area! Simply add your state and 5K or 1M distance to the search form... and voila!... more choices than you can shake a stick at. All certified to the length required.
Two. Search the RunGo website or mobile app for a previously captured course.
Three. Draw, Create or Upload one using RunGo!
Be sure to select a course that is at least 5K, 3.10686 miles in length.

Once you register for either the 5K or 1M Fun Run, you will have the a month leading up to the Turkey Trot to run and submit your Virtual Results! Virtual Results submissions will be accepted starting October 22th (12:01AM ...if so inclined) through the day BEFORE (Saturday, 11/21), the Turkey Trot (11:59PM). Simply select the Results tab above, click the "Submit Virtual Results" button and lookup your entry. After which you will be transferred to the time entry page where you'll be able to share your accomplishment!
Import (add'l) Day of, November 22nd (10AM-12PM) Event Details! - PLEASE READ!!!
On your race bib, you will be given a start time between 10:00AM – 12:00PM on Sun., November 22nd. Show up no more than 10 minutes prior to that time and begin the race whenever you are ready to go. There will not be a gun start – just show up and run or walk. Your start and finish time will be recorded by crossing the start and finish timing (same) mat. After finishing the race, please leave the area.
The course will be open from 9:45 until approximately 1:30 PM. It will NOT be a closed course, meaning the streets will be accessible by vehicle traffic. However, the start/finish area will be closed to traffic and major intersection crossing points will be controlled by police and other volunteers. Barricades, cones and markers will be used to direct participants and traffic. Participants will be directed to stay to the side of the road and be aware of vehicles and other obstacles. EMTs will be on site.
Clocks will be positioned at Mile 1, Mile 2 and the Finish to assist in keeping you on pace and target!
Everyone must adhere to Social Distancing rules – 6 ft minimum recommended, before, during and after the event. You may wear a mask before and after the event if you feel distancing cannot be maintained. Masks may be worn by walkers during the event but are not recommended for runners. You may run or walk in a group or cluster with your immediate family members if desired.
There will be no water stops on the race course. Bottled water will be available at the start/finish area. Portable restrooms will be limited. Hand sanitizing stations will be available.
There will be no kids races or activities, no bands, food or other frills that would lead to congregation on site.
No awards will be given on site. A free race entry for next year’s event will be granted to the top 3 male and female finishers in each age group.
Results will be available online (on this event page under RESULTS) and you may sign up for text notification.
You must complete a self-health check within 24 hours of the race start. You must abide by all government orders including those requiring quarantine if returning from any designated state or country. If you are not able to participate in the race due to any symptoms, conditions or travel quarantine restrictions you will be granted a full refund upon request.
Virtual Race provisions: Run or walk 5 kilometers at a time and place of your choosing. No official time recording or awards. Your race t-shirt may be picked up at a designated time/place. Do not show up to run the course on November 22nd.
