Are you ready to have fun? Still have questions?
We get a lot of questions, so we probably already have your answer below. Check out these common questions and hopefully we already have an answer for you!
What should I bring?
Please bring your ID, something to hold your valuables in (fanny packs work great!), and dress in layers! It's usually pretty cool in the morning but you'll shed some layers as you run and warm up quickly!
How do I know what to wear?
First race? It is for most of our runners! It depends on the weather on race day but most ladies run in spandex shorts or pants and a tank top, shirt, or even longsleeve shirt if it's chilly out. Talk to your local running club and shops to get a good idea. Consider participating with a running club before and find out what other runners love to race in too.
What if I'm still working off my baby fat?
Who isn’t? Who cares? We’re all coming together to embrace mental health and loving our bodies. Anybody detracting from that mission of love, kindness, and giving will be promptly asked to leave the event. When you choose to run you’ll find that other concerns fall to the wayside! The only curve we care about is the smile on your face!
Is there an age restriction?
To run, we find most people need to 5 or older for the 5k, 7 or older for the 10k, and 10 or older for the half marathon. If you have kiddos younger than than and they’re feeling left out, grab your stroller and bring them as you push them along the course! Please do keep in mind that strollers are bulky and make it difficult for others to pass, so please start further back in the start chute than your normal pace!
Can I bring my pets?
Do your dogs Fido and Daisy not want to miss out on all the fun? Then don’t let them! As long as they’re a good boy/girl on a leash they’re more than welcome to be in the festival with a spectator, but NOT on the course!
What's included in my registration?
Know that not only are you in for the time of your life, but you’ll also be getting some freebies! Every registration comes with a race packet containing a running fanny pack, some sunglasses from Goodr, an amazing V-neck shirt or tank top, and a runner’s bib! At the finish line you'll get your finisher medal if you run the half marathon, and a pin if you're in the 5k or 10k. Collect all three on 1 year and you get a commemorative champagne glass too!
When do I get my race packet?
Check your event’s specific page for packet pickup details and be sure to head to your packet pickup event! All packets picked up on the day of the race will incur a $5 cash fee.
How long is this run?
We have 3 options: 5 kilometers (3.1 miles), 10 kilometers (double that), and a half marathon (13.1 miles). We generally find that runners finish a 5k in 15-40 minutes, a 10k in 30-90 minutes, and a half marathon in 90-180 minutes. Walkers are encouraged too, and they usuall take 60 minutes (5k), 2 hours (10k), or 4 hours (1/2 marathon).
Do I need to run?
The only running you need to do is when you see the photographers at the finish line! Whether you’re making a mad dash for the after-party, just dancing it out, or taking it nice and slow into the finish line – there’s no wrong way to participate! Walkers and runners are encouraged alike, but we do have course cutoff times due to permitting and medical concerns: 75 minutes (5k), 150 minutes (10k), and 5 hours (1/2 marathon).
Why is there a registration fee?
Our registration platform charges a small fee to host your info and distribute important event information to you. Please be aware of this when registering!
Can a friend or family member pick up my race packet for me?
Of Course! Please make sure they have a photo of your ID or registration barcode to present to our staff. Packets cannot be released without proof in either of these forms.
Can I sign up at the race?
We are always up for new friends joining in on the fun and giving! If you hold out until the very last minute to register, we can still accommodate you at the event but it will be CASH ONLY and the rate will likely be higher than your friends who signed up in advance! So stop waiting and just register already!
I’d like to transfer my race entry to a friend or family member
Can’t come party with us? Donate, gift, or sell your registration to someone else by following the steps below:
The Transfer Event option can be found by logging on to RunSignup, navigating to Profile > Upcoming Events > Manage Registration > Transfer Event.
I can no longer attend, what do I do?
Can’t come party with us? Bummer! While we don’t offer refunds for registrations you can still do one of 2 things:
1. Defer your registration to one of our other events this year or next year
2. Transfer your registration to someone else who can attend the event (Please see the related FAQ for Transfers)
Inclement Weather Policy
We are a rain or shine event, meaning that a few sprinkles or some nippy weather won’t stop us from bringing the party! However, we do keep your event experience and overall safety at the forefront of any and all decisions we make and our event director will closely monitor all weather for the event. Should the weather ever be so severe that we feel it would compromise your safety (usually this only occurs with lightning and extreme wind), we may have to cancel the event. In the unlikely event of a cancellation, an email with further directions and options will be sent out promptly, but there are no refunds.
I want to volunteer!
Looking to help with getting clothes to the folks who need it most? Need some volunteer hours? Want to party with the She Strides staff? Come volunteer with us! We are looking for great volunteers who will help us separate participants from their clothes and unite those in need with some new threads! For more information about how to sign up, please click the volunteer button above!
