About Trail Racing Over Texas

TRAIL RUNNING EVENTS ACROSS TEXAS

Founded in 2014 and revitalized in 2022, TROT has hosted over 100 events across Texas. From one-mile kids runs, 100-mile USATF championships, UTMB & Western States qualifiers, up to 200-mile mountain adventures, 100h timed events, and everything in between for thousands of trail participants from beginner to elite.

TROT is a locally family-owned business by trail runners Cal Neff and Rachel Neff, and their four daughters, one son, and the mascot Frenchie "Billy Baldwin" to bring world-class trail events to Texas.

Events include the fastest 100mi and 50mi trail races at Brazos Bend (April and December events), the hottest race in Texas at Habanero Hundred, the beautiful Wildflower trail run in Bastrop, a hidden Texas gem with Mission Tejas, our timed challenge Jackalope Jam, the party at Night Moves, the triple race challenge at the Shootout, Road Kill XC Meet, the Big Tex Backyard Ultra, our new beach run with the Galveston Ultra Trail, the first ever offical trail running event in Houston's Memorial Park - the Houston Ultra Trail, and many other community events.

TROT aims to get people outside and moving, showcasing Texas's beautiful parks and ranches with family-friendly events for all abilities and ambitions.

VOLUNTEER

Volunteers are what make TROT races possible. From working aid stations and driving shuttles to assisting the race director, sweeping the course, and more, there are many ways to get involved. Volunteers earn race credits toward future events, volunteer swag, and other perks while helping create an incredible race experience for our runners.

Each event has its own volunteer signup page on RunSignup where you can view currently available opportunities. Additional roles are typically added as we get closer to race day.

Volunteer Benefits:

As a thank you for your time and effort, volunteers earn race credits toward future TROT events in addition to other perks such as volunteer shirts, meals during shifts, and free park entry.

Individual volunteers typically receive:

  • Free park or venue entry
  • Volunteer or Event T-shirt
  • Free primitive camping*
  • Meals or snacks during shift*
  • Volunteer hour signoff for school/volunteer/Scout/race programs (if applicable)
  • TROT Race credits for time volunteered, redeemable toward future TROT races

*varies by race and role

TROT Volunteer Credit Structure

Volunteers earn race credits based on verified hours worked and the timing of the shift. Credits are issued in U.S. dollar value and may be applied toward entry fees for future Trail Racing Over Texas races.

See more details about the TROT Volunteer Program on the official TROT webiste.

AID STATION TAKEOVER

We are currently accepting Aid Station Club Takeover requests for all our races - if you are part of a running club, team, group, business, or any type of organization you can earn benefits for your group while having a lot of fun supporting the running community. Bring your own theme, costumes, music, special foods, you name it - the aid station is yours to have fun with. We'll set up the tent and basics, your club leader will organize the rest. Email for more information.
