Vince Wojnar Scholarship
A scholarship in remembrance of Vince Wojnar was established to honor a male and female college-bound student-athlete who is graduating from a high school encompassing PIAA District 2. Vince was the co-founder of the Wyoming Valley Striders in 1975 and passed away on January 18, 2018. He was a staple in the running community. Vince volunteered half of his life to the WVS serving in various positions on the board from 1975-2018 and was race director for Strider races up until his retirement in 2015.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must have competed in and finished at the varsity level in cross country or in an individual event in track and field at the PIAA District 2 meet during their senior year.

2025 Winners
Annika Von Ahnen
Mid Valley
Annika Von Ahnen placed second at the 2024 District 2 Class 2A Cross Country Championships. In 2025, she was the District 2 Class 2A champion in the 3200-meter run, placed third in the 4x800-meter relay, and finished sixth in the 1600-meter run at the Track and Field Championships. She plans to attend PennWest Edinboro, where she will continue her running career on the cross country and track teams. Annika will major in exercise science.
Casimir Glaude
Wyoming Valley West
Casimir Glaude’s cross country career was halted this past year, but despite a difficult recovery, he made quite the comeback and returned to compete in track. At the 2025 District 2 Class 3A Track and Field Championships, he placed tenth in the 4x800-meter relay, eleventh in the 800-meter run, fourteenth in the 4x400-meter relay, and fifteenth in the 400-meter dash. He plans to attend King’s College, where he will major in nursing and continue his running career on the cross country and track teams.
