Zachary Elliot Remmel is a beloved son, grandson, oldest brother, cousin, and everyone's best friend. He adored all of his peers and staff members at Mary Cariola Children's Center and Lifetime Assistance. He enjoyed watching his many favorite movies that he knew by heart, and was always excited for car rides and walks and family gatherings. He found joy in being near water to toss rocks, and he took every chance he could to indulge in delicious food. He loved dancing with his siblings to all of his favorite songs. He always shook everyone's hands a hundred times per meeting, never denied giving the tightest hugs, and always wore a beaming smile on his face. Zachary (also known as Doodles by his immediate family) was the walking definition of love and joy and sunshine…in its purest form.
On September 7th, 2024 at 30-years-old, he embarked on his honor walk from Strong Memorial Hospital's Neuro-Medicine ICU (NMICU 8-1200) unit after a three-week painstaking fight for his life, ultimately becoming a hero to the nameless recipients of his kidneys, liver, heart valves, connective tissue, and nerves.
Join Zachary's family for their second year fundraising for the annual Rochester River Run / Walk.

With your donation, we're helping cover expenses associated with essential life-long care, such as life-saving medications and travel expenses. Your support will help the hundreds of patients currently awaiting heart, liver, kidney or pancreas transplants at Strong, as well as those who continue to receive follow-up care from Strong.
