Rochester River Run Update
3 p.m. Monday, April 16
We are disappointed that yesterday’s weather conditions left us no choice but to cancel the 2018 Rochester River Run and Transplant commemoration ceremony.
It was not an easy decision. However, maintaining a safe event is our highest priority. The icy conditions, together with narrow, uneven surfaces and several pedestrian bridges throughout the park and race course were hazardous for participants.
We are looking at the possibility of rescheduling the race and event for a date later in the season. Please save yesterday’s race bibs until we have finalized our plans. We are also ironing out the logistics of getting race shirts to those of you who registered prior to March 26. If we can reschedule the race, you can get your shirt then.
Our Basket Sweepstakes winning tickets will be drawn at noon on Wednesday, April 18. If you’re one of the lucky winners, we will contact you to arrange prize basket pickup.
Thank you for your patience as we finalize our plans. We are incredibly grateful for your dedication and the efforts you made to support our heart, liver, kidney and pancreas transplant patients, their donors and their families, who benefit from the Rochester River Run/Walk.
Stay tuned for more details or check for updates at: RiverRun.urmc.edu.
With sincere appreciation,
The 2018 Rochester River Run Committee
The River Run/Walk 5K is an annual event sponsored by the Friends of Strong Memorial Hospital and the hospital’s transplant units. All proceeds directly benefit transplant patients.
Transplant recipients who come to Strong for heart, liver, pancreas, or kidney transplant often need financial assistance while they await surgery and afterwards. In addition to costly medical treatment, the need to travel – for some a great distance – adds financial strain on patients and their families. Your support will help the hundreds of patients currently awaiting transplants, as well as those who continue to receive follow-up care from Strong.
