The old Mini Marathon Training Program returns and is rebranded to Plainfield Run Club! Not to fear, this program is for runners and walkers, all paces are encouraged! Rather than the program running from strictly January to May, the program will be a year-long ran program. When you signup for the Plainfield Run Club, your membership is a rolling 12 month membership. So if you enroll for the club on January 1, 2024, your membership will be good through January 1, 2025. For only $60 a year (a decrease in price compared to year's past), what's not to love?

Our Run Club participants will receive the following:
Tuesdays:
Run Club participants will meet Tuesday evenings at 6:00 PM from beginning on January 17th. We will meet briefly then head out for about 30-45 minute group run/walk. Afterwards, we head back into the classroom for a quick stretch and about once a month, we will have a guest speaker present run/walk related topics from nutrition, to gear, foam rolling, tapering for you race, and more!.
The training plans will also be provided in class and via email.
Saturdays:
Program participants will meet on Saturday Mornings at 8:30 AM for group runs that will continually increase in distance as the program goes on. We encourage our athletes to group up with others that run/walk similar paces. Completing long distance training runs are always more enjoyable with good company.
When/where does this club meet?
The training program will meet at The Richard A. Carlucci Recreation and Aquatic Center on Tuesdays at 6:00 PM and Saturdays at 8:30 AM beginning January 16th
Will there be group runs/walks this year?
Of course! Shorter runs will take place on Tuesday evenings and increasingly longer runs will take place on Saturday mornings.
Will there be a classroom sessions this year?
Yes, although less frequently. Since this club does not have an end date, we are going to space the speakers out. We will have about one speaker a month. We will cover all the important run/walk topics, gear talk and Hendrick Regional Health Speakers come to speak with us. The classroom sessions will be on Tuesday evenings at around 7pm.
How will I get my training plan?
Training Plans will be passed out in class and emailed to registered participants each week. Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Plans for both 5k and Half Marathon are available.
Is there an age limit/requirement for participating in the program?
Ages 7-99, with a range of pace groups and training plans for a 5k or a half Marathon, this program is for just about anyone. Minors will need to be at least 13 years of age to participate without a parent/guardian. Participants younger than 13 years of age must have their parent/guardian present and participating in the program as well.
Will I be locked into a pace group?
Absolutely not. You may find that your pace speeds up as you’re training. You might also find that you need to slow your roll a bit as the long runs increase in distance. Either way, feel free to move into a new pace group that will better suit you.
Where do the training runs take place?
The Town of Plainfield has a killer system of 30+ miles of paved trails. You may vary routes but will always start from the Richard A. Carlucci Recreation & Aquatic Center. The Plainfield Trail System features iron bridges, parks, ponds, gazebos, memorials, a waterfall, and more. With so much to see along the routes, the long runs will fly by.
Is a babysitting option offered during the training meetings?
The Richard A. Carlucci Center does have Playworld, which is a supervised play area. Participants may use their membership or purchase a day oass to check in their children. Participants must remain inside the building, while children are in Playworld, which means they may need to hit the treadmill or indoor track alone rather than hitting the trails with their pace group.
