Plainfield Run Club

Plainfield, IN 46168 US

Frequently Asked Questions:

When/where does this club meet?
The training program will meet at The Richard A. Carlucci Recreation and Aquatic Center on Tuesdays at 6:00 PM and Saturdays at 8:30 AM in the colder months, 7:30 AM in the warmer months. Generally, October - late May will be 8:30 AM, then 7:30 AM from late May - September.

Will there be group runs/walks this year?
Of course! Shorter runs will take place on Tuesday evenings and increasingly longer runs will take place on Saturday mornings.

Will there be a classroom sessions this year?
Yes! During the training blocks, we will have speakers on a bi-weekly basis.  We will cover all the important run/walk topics, such as gear, nutrition, stretching, cross training, and more. Hendrick Regional Health will provide the speakers for these important topics. The classroom sessions will be on Tuesday evenings at around 7pm after the group run.

How will I get my training plan?
Training Plans will be passed out in class and emailed to registered participants each week.

What if I'm not planning to run/walk the Indy Mini Marathon or the Back Your Badge Marathon?
No big deal. Join anyway. You don’t have to be training for a certain race to enjoy group run/walks.

The weather outside is frightful. Is there an option to stay inside?
Yes and No. Unless there are dangerous conditions outside such as ice, lightning, or extremely low temperatures, we plan for running/walking outside. You never know what conditions will bring on race day. If you would prefer to stay inside for our group run, you may head upstairs to the Fitness Center to use the ⅛ mile indoor track or a treadmill. This option is ONLY available on Tuesdays at 6:00PM and Saturdays at 8:30/7:30AM during training blocks.

Is there an age limit/requirement for participating in the program?
Ages 7-99, with a range of pace groups and training plans this program is for just about anyone. Minors will need to be at least 13 years of age to participate without a parent/guardian. Participants younger than 13 years of age must have their parent/guardian present and participating in the program as well.

Will I be locked into a pace group?
Absolutely not. You may find that your pace speeds up as you’re training. You might also find that you need to slow your roll a bit as the long runs increase in distance. Either way, feel free to move into a new pace group that will better suit you.

Where do the training runs take place?
The Town of Plainfield has a killer system of 30+ miles of paved trails. You may vary routes but will always start from the Richard A. Carlucci Recreation & Aquatic Center. The Plainfield Trail System features iron bridges, parks, ponds, gazebos, memorials, a waterfall, and more. With so much to see along the routes, the long runs will fly by.

Is a babysitting option offered during the training meetings?
The Richard A. Carlucci Center does have Playworld, which is a supervised play area. Participants may use their membership or purchase a day pass to check in their children. Participants must remain inside the building, while children are in Playworld, which means they may need to hit the treadmill or indoor track alone rather than hitting the trails with their pace group.
