We believe run training should be a fun, dynamic, quality, community, whole body experience. Whew! We've reimagined run training to fit the needs of (real) women, because, well...you deserve it! So what are we "reimagining"? Glad you asked!
Understanding You. You are a woman. As a woman athlete, your body's needs are unique. At RISE, our training + coaching philosophy is based on understanding your unique physical, mental + emotional needs, and tailoring quality run training to address them. But it goes a step further, we want you to understand how your body operates. It's time to work with your body and stop fighting it. Your body is amazing!!!
The Dream. Ask a woman why she runs, or wants to run, and you'll get a hundred different answers. From fitness/health goals, to performance/race goals; from mental health (hello sanity!), to body composition; for the "me time", for the camaraderie with others; to relax, to get energy; for the pure love of our sport. While one of these reasons may resonate with you more than another, we can all relate to most of these! At R+R, we believe at the root of all these reasons is a "dream" that somewhere up the road there is a better version of ourselves. We're here to come alongside of you and encourage you to embrace where you’re at right now. And we encourage you to speak whatever dream you have into existence, and chase after it with that fire we know is within you!
Time. Your time is precious and valuable. You have priorities. You have responsibilities. You are busy! At night we know your head hits the pillow hard. Running is not a sport of shortcuts. Consistency and hard work pays huge dividends. BUT, there are ways to make your run training easier and more efficient. We want running to complement your life, not take it over (unless you want it to take over, in which case we are totally down with that too!). So we formulate a training plan that: optimizes your time and incorporates the principal of "protecting your training time". Then when you are training you are getting the biggest bang for your buck. Your time is money baby!
Quality. It's working with someone who cares, ahem 🙋♀️, and allowing us to set you up with quality training that enhances your life! We view run training as a whole body experience. So we don't tell you to just "go run", but we cover all aspects of training- preparation, recovery, strength training, core strengthening (deserves a category of its own!), sleep, hydration, fueling, nutrition, gear, racing strategies, etc. Those generic online running plans aren’t doing you any favors! Why? Because they don’t know YOU. Stop adjusting your life to follow this type of “training”. Take the guesswork out of running for good, and spend that energy on achieving high quality training that works! You can reach a finish line many different ways, but know that quality training is invaluable and we are here to offer it to you.
Fun. If running isn't fun, why are you doing it? Maybe you stopped running because of this very reason...maybe you outran your love of it. Run training can and should bring you joy, like deep down soul joy! So what can make your training more fun and enjoyable? We have lots of ideas! Group runs, purposeful running (knowing each run serves a specific purpose), team challenges (that may or may not include running), earning R+R swag for running, music...loud music, events...the fun just keeps coming. Rule #1, always have FUN.
Community. THIS is the jelly to our peanut butter! Are you are ready for it?! When strong women support other strong women, magic happens. The running experience becomes dynamic and energetic! I’ve seen this process happen over and over. Goals become a little bigger because you're surrounded by other dreamers and doers! Wonder why running is astronomically easier when in a group? Studies prove that exertion levels are perceived as less when performing strenuous activity TOGETHER. And guess what happens when you run “harder” at a lesser RPE?
