The San Antonio RoadRunners have an active Community Outreach Program that partners with local non-profit organizations that align with the club’s purpose to improve lives through fitness.
Our race and training participants make it possible to give a portion of our proceeds back to the community. This year's recipients include Street2Feet, Friends of San Antonio Natural Areas, Brackenridge Park Conservancy, Friends of Government Canyon, Friends of McAllister Park and Wilson County Road Runners. Past recipients have included Girls on the Run and the Coastal Bend Food Bank.
Street2Feet is a 5k training program for individuals experiencing homelessness in San Antonio. Friends of San Antonio Natural Areas is dedicated to promoting stewardship of Eisenhower Park, Friedrich Park, Hardberger Park, Walker Ranch Park, Crownridge Canyon & Medina River Natural Areas. Brackenridge Park Conservancy is a steward of and an advocate for the Park and an instrument for preserving and enhancing the Park’s natural, historical, educational, and recreational resources for the enjoyment of current and future generations. Friends of Government Canyon strive to protect and preserve the numerous natural resources found within the park. Friends of McAllister Park work to protect and preserve park plant & animal life while encouraging park preservation. Wilson County Road Runners promote community wellness and their mission is moving forward to give back. Girls on the Run promotes physical fitness through running. Our local GOTR organization covers Bexar, Comal, and Kendall counties and has 750+ girls participate annually.
Our monthly Free Family Fun Run program has been endorsed by the Mayor's Fitness Council, City of San Antonio. The SARR Meetup Calendar includes Free runs most days of the week at various locations in and around San Antonio
SARR has adopted a two-mile stretch of trail that starts at Walker Ranch Park. As the biggest running club in town, our runners use the parks and greenways on a daily basis and the city needs our help to keep the trails looking great and trash-free. Check the calendar on our home page for future cleanup dates.
