2025 Programs and events

Last year we negotiated an agreement with Better World Books to place a book bin outside the Library to receive used book donations, with the net proceeds supporting the Library’s Museum pass program.  We donated $2,450.00 to the Library for its Museum Pass Program, NJ Makers Day Program, Drag Queen Story Hour, and Haunted Library. We also provided an appreciation breakfast for Library Employees in conjunction with a staff development day. Other events included a very successful Drag Queen event, and participation in the Hackensack Riverkeeper’s cleanup of Staib Park/Coles Brook.

2026 Programs and events

The Book Bin is now fully operational, and has raised over $700 to date.  We have pledged $3,950 to the Library for its Museum Pass Program, Teen Summer Reading Program, and Haunted Library. We again provided an appreciation breakfast for Library Employees.
We are also working closely with the Hackensack Board of Education to ameliorate some of the impact of its budget cuts on our community. We were able to reserve the Civic Center at no cost all day to enable the HMS Happy Feet Trail Runners Club to film their interviews for the documentary they are producing. We also intend to sponsor its world premiere at the HACPAC over the winter as a fund raiser.  We obtained a $500 grant from PSE&G to fund a stem related program for the High School robotics team. We have reserved the HACPAC for October 23 to do a Drag Queen fundraiser event with the High School drama program.
