Hello,
I have been doing the Rock n Race for many years to support a close family friend Ted Clark - and always join "Teddy's Team". Last year, the Payson Center become more personal to me as I was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer in February. I was VERY lucky that it was caught so early and needed to undergo 16 sessions of radiation.
When I got the news, I was so lost and confused, there are so may questions that run through someones head when they are diagnosed with this terrible disease. I will be forever grateful that I decided to go through my treatment in Concord, as I was directly connected to the Payson Center. The same place I have been walking to support for many many years.
The Payson Center was my saving grace, as it connected me with support groups, proper nutrition, holistic paths and most importantly connected me with a WONDERFUL therapist via the onsite Social Worker. I continue to see my therapist today even though I am no longer in treatment, and she has helped me through more tough choices along the way.
Last year, when I walked the Rock n Race, I had just gotten out of one of my raditation treatments, and the event truly took on a whole new meaning to me. I made a promise to myself that next year, I would not only walk the race again, but would work harder at the donation process. I know how important the Payson Center was to me, and I want to help raise funds for others, so that the Payson Center can continue to provide for ALL that are battling and navigating through Cancer.
