My Ovarian Cancer journey started over three years ago. I have fought this nasty disease twice over the last three years. You see in January of 2022 – I had a really bad Kidney Stone. I’ve had Kidney stones my whole life. When they did a CAT scan to see the stone they also found a mass in my lower abdomen cavity. My cancer was an accidently finding. I HAD NO Symptoms – and I was already Stage 3C. That Kidney stone saved my life.
I like to think that we all float through life blissfully and then one day your life can change on a dime. You never think that this will be you. But that January day in 2022 it was me. I felt as if someone had smacked me square in the face with a frying pan. I was scared – not knowing what my future will be.
Quickly - I had surgery to remove the tumor then Chemo followed the surgery for over 5 and a half months. I was cancer free for 22 months and the disease returned in April 2024. I had surgery again to remove a tumor and 6 more months of Chemo. I’ve been Cancer Free since October 2024.
You see Cancer is not for the faint of heart. It has been the hardest journey I have ever been on. But God had a plan for me. You see God blessed me with an incredible support system My Husband Jeff who has been my rock through this whole Journey – He was my voice when I couldn’t and didn’t know what to ask or say. God blessed us with our children and all of our other family members as well as all of our incredible friends - who have been there every day of my journey praying – going to appointments – going to treatments - sending cards – making dinners - or just sitting with me. Not to mention donating and walking for this cause. I’m here today because my God is bigger than Ovarian Cancer.
The Ovarian Cancer Walk allows us to raise funds for research – So we can find a DAMN cure.
I encourage all of you to register for the walk and if you can’t walk with us the day of the walk register to walk virtually. My goal is to have 150 people walk with me this year and my fellow warriors to achieve our goals.
