Story

Dear Friends and Family!

We are gathering again to honor the memory of Kim and to raise funds for Sarcoma research. Every year Kim would attend the Stomp to help battle all forms of Sarcoma. Kim can't attend anymore but she will always be with us in spirit. She always hoped for the day that no one would suffer from sarcoma. So please join us for the Stomp or donate for research to stomp out sarcoma!

The Matthews family

This year we are UNITING FOR A CURE to raise critical funds for sarcoma research while amplifying awareness for this rare and challenging cancer. Every dollar supports innovative projects at Levine Cancer Institute and Levine Children's Hospital advancing treatments and improving outcomes for patients locally and globally.

The Sarcoma Stomp is more than a fundraiser—it’s a day of hope and community! Enjoy a 5K Run/3K Walk through South Charlotte, followed by games, face painting, music, team tents, and an afterparty festival with food and drinks from Legion Brewing.

Whether you’re running, walking, fundraising, or cheering, your participation helps make a difference. Together, let’s take steps toward a cure!

WEATHER
The Sarcoma Stomp is held rain or shine. However, safety is always our #1 priority. In the event of any severe weather on April 5th, Start2Finish Event Management will communicate with participants regarding any race delay or cancellation. Please make sure your registration includes a valid email address and cell phone number so that you can be properly contacted should severe weather be an issue on race day.

Here are the facts. Sarcoma is a rare cancer of the bone and connective tissues, and can literally appear anywhere in the body. About 16,000 children and adults annually in the US are diagnosed with sarcoma. Globally it receives an extremely small amount of funding to research cures for the over 100 expressions of the disease. Warning signs are not universal. Causes are still a mystery in most cases. And the overall 5-year survival rate is only about 50%. Tragically, that statistic has not changed in over 4 decades but we ARE pushing the needle of hope higher with our measurable impact!

Please. I am asking you to use your voices to make hope even louder. Funds raised by the The Paula Takacs Foundation go directly to funding local research at Levine Cancer Institute and Levine Children’s. Since its formation in 2010, the Paula Takacs Foundation has already raised just short of $4 million to fund clinical trials, biomarker studies and other projects to help researchers develop new, novel treatments for sarcomas. Levine Cancer Institute and Levine Children's Hospital stand as a leaders to provide care and hope to sarcoma patients.
