WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT TODAY!
While tremendous progress has been made, these are the realities:
- 1 in 26 people will be diagnosed with epilepsy in their lifetime
- 1 in 10 will experience a seizure
- 2,000 children have epilepsy in Hawaii
- 14,000 people have epilepsy in Hawaii
- 30 percent of people with epilepsy do not gain full control of their seizures and continue to struggle day-to-day with the threat of imminent seizures
- 1 out of 1,000 adults with epilepsy and 1 out of 1,000 children with epilepsy die each year from sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP).
*The Epilepsy Foundation of Hawaii is the only non-profit organization to serve the 14,000 individuals living with active epilepsy and their families in Hawaii. All race proceeds remain in Hawaii and help to fund local programs and initiatives like seizure education, training, and outreach.
