In all honesty, we didn't plan it. Our journey started after a handful of conversations with endurance athletes, both men and women. But we quickly saw a common thread emerge: while men mentioned nutrition almost as an afterthought, nearly every single woman said she had a hard time digesting the fuel available and couldn't find one she liked. Additionally, women thought their bodies were the problem. To understand the issue, we dug in. Here’s what we learned:
Almost half of U.S. marathoners are women
But only 30% of sports science & sports medicine study participants are women
And less than 2.5% of all sports nutrition is made for women
Turns out, sports nutrition isn't actually one-size-fits-all, and there are sex-specific considerations to take into account.
Levelle was founded with the belief that women's bodies perform better with food formulated with their physiology in mind from the start. It's time for a sex-specific approach.
We fuel women to run the world.
