A Little History

In 1946, Louis Cormier opened a clock shop in the town of Southbridge. A year later, it moved two buildings down the street, and there it would stay for over 75 years. As his brothers got into the business and the business shifted from clocks to jewelry, three other Cormier Jewelers sprung up: , one in Ware, MA, one in Spencer, MA and one in Daytona Beach, FL.

In 1974, Louis' son, John, took over the family business. Along the way, John earned the title of Certified Gemologist Appraiser and grew Cormier's in Southbridge into the area's leading jeweler, specializing in fine jewelry, engagement rings, jewelry design and repair, and appraisal services. Today, Shawn Cormier owns and operates the business, with the help of his son, fourth-generation jeweler, Thomas.

Today, there still exist two stores: the original Cormier Jewelers in Southbridge, which is still owned and operated by the Cormier family, now four generations in, and  Cormier Jewelers & Art Gallery in Spencer, which was sold years ago to the Seguin family, cousins of the Cormier's, and operates as its own separate business.
