The Locker Project mission is to connect food-insecure children in Maine with nourishing food to improve their learning capacity, health and future. We take a whole-family approach to child hunger with programs that strive to be low-barrier, stigma-free, and environmentally responsible.
With the help of our community partners, donors and volunteers, the Locker Project distributes healthy take-home food to children at public schools, preschools and youth programs across Greater Portland and shares fresh food at parks and other community locations.
In 2022, we shared more than 480,000 pounds of healthy snacks, meal items, and fresh food with Greater Portland children and families.
