Cut the current number of lives lost to breast cancer in half.
Now that’s a mission we can get behind. That’s a mission Delta Sigma Theta, Philadelphia Alumnae Chapter has gotten behind by participating in the 2017 Komen Philadelphia Race for the Cure!

This year, Komen announced its bold goal: To reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths in the U.S. by 50% within the next decade.

It’s an aggressive goal, and one we believe in, because we believe in Komen. We believe this Race for the Cure can bring tremendous power to the fight against breast cancer. And, we believe that we have a role to play in helping end this disease.

Helping Komen Philadelphia drastically reduce the number of breast cancer deaths in our community and beyond is not the only reason we're walking & running in, and fundraising for this year’s Race.

We also participate to support breast cancer survivors in their life after breast cancer, as well as bring strength to metastatic breast cancer patients for whom currently there is no cure.

We participate to help Komen Philadelphia make sure all women and men have access to mammograms and other breast health services – regardless of their income, financial status or lifestyle.

We participate to fund the research that will one day eliminate the threat of breast cancer for everyone.

We participate because breast cancer touches every life, and this race is a way we can make a difference to all those people.
