Meet 2025 Participants!
Every step of the 4Star 4Mile carries great significance! Whether you’re running, walking, or rucking in honor of a loved one, to celebrate service, or simply to show support for our military and veteran community. By sharing your story, you help us honor the people, memories, and motivations behind this race...
Terry Macek
"I run this race each year that I can for all of my relatives who were in the service including my Uncle Ralph, Uncle Joe, and Uncle Rich who were in the navy. My Uncle Rich, who lived in California, passed away 4 years ago, so more recently my 4Star4Mile runs have been dedicated in his memory. Both my brother Ed and I run for him and all of the other men and women who have dedicated their lives to serving our country.
My goal for this race in 2025 is to finish strong and to push until I reach the finish line. One of the other things I love about this race is also the drive I get when I see all of the people in the parade and watching the veterans as they pass me by. The give me the strength to get it done. Hearing the crowd cheer and shout words on encouragment help too." - Terry Macek, #4Star4Mile Runner
Meet Terry Macek! Since 2017, Terry and his brother Ed have made sure that at least one of them crosses the #4Star4Mile finish line each year in honor of their family members. 🇺🇸 Thank you, Terry and Ed, for joining us for another year!
Dan Oh
"I have a deep respect for those who serve our country. This is my 3rd year of being invovled: Ran in '23, voluntered in '24. I have been injured all year. It has made racing and running very discouraging. Despite this, I want to show up to honor those who have given everything. I am honoring Chris Casey, Air force." - Dan Oh, #4Star4Mile Runner with Detroit Threads Running Team
Nate Robinson
Nate is honoring the crew of the USS Thresher (SSN 593) who are on eternal patrol.
"I am chapter captain for Team RWB in Ann Arbor. I'm carrying the flag to show my fellow Eagles how it's done. I will run the flag in, then bring others in while giving them a chance to carry the flag." - Nate Robinson, Team RWB, 1st Year Runner at 4Star 4Mile

Red Mac
Q: What inspired you to join the 4Star 4Mile this year?
A: "In honor of those who have lost the battle at home and those still fighting it. To raise awareness of veteran suicide. The statistic is that 22 veterans a day take their own lives. The number is actually believed to be double that due to families not wanting "suicide" listed on the death certificate."
Q: Who are you honoring at the 10th Anniversary 4Star 4Mile?
A: "In honor of my friend and comrade GySgt James Misa USMC 10/13/77 - 7/31/21."
Q: Are you participating with any friends, family members, or groups?
A: "I am anticipating some friends from the Irreverent Warriors Detroit group to be there with me."
Q: What’s your mission or goal for race day?
A: "To carry the weight of my fallen comrades on my back, finish strong, and raise awareness of a major issue in mental health within the veteran community."
