On Memorial Day weekend, I'm running the Elizabeth River Run 10k and I am fundraising for two beloved local nonprofits: The Elizabeth River Trail Foundation and the Tidewater Striders. Please consider making a contribution - any amount helps!
The Elizabeth River Trail Foundation’s mission is to promote, enhance and transform the Elizabeth River Trail into the most iconic urban riverfront trail in the country. The ERT runs 10.5 miles and connects businesses, historic attractions and 28 neighborhoods within a five-minute walk. The multi-use trail is designed for walking, running and biking. In 2020, the Foundation was able to build multiple new amenities, including a kayak launch, play sculpture and double turbo challenge course in Plum Point Park. Your support will also help the ERT Foundation continue to host free events for the community and volunteers, including our trail ambassador program. (The ERT and Keep Norfolk Beautiful help volunteers make seed balls for the managed wildflower and pollinator habitat meadow in the Chelsea neighborhood of Norfolk)
(Award winning public amenities funded by the ERT Foundation - a double turbo challenge course, play sculpture and ADA accessible kayak launch)
The Tidewater Striders has hosted the Elizabeth River Run annually on Memorial Day weekend since 1979. Formed in 1972, it is the largest running club in Virginia and one of the ten largest in the United States. It serves to promote fitness-related activities such as running, walking and multi-sport events in our community. Proceeds go to the Striders' scholarship fun for local youth. Thank you for your time and consideration!
