Participation FAQ

Can my friends and family participate?

Registration is now live for the 5K@EASD and we encourage you to run or walk with your friends, family or colleagues. Running is better with friends! 

Can I run or walk longer than 5K?

Yes, you can run or walk longer than 5K, but we encourage you to upload your best 5K segment so that your time is accurate in comparison to the other participants.
Note that the minimum time allowed is 14:45 and the maximum time allowed is 2:00:00.

Do I have to wait until September to complete my 5K@EASD?

No, you can run or walk today! Just sign up and go for your 5K@EASD.
You do not have to wait until 17 September to complete your run.
We encourage you to complete the 5K@EASD virtual challenge, and submit your results right away for your participation to be counted. 

Do I have to run every day or just one time?

You only have to complete the 5K@EASD one time, however you are more than welcome to submit results more than once, and we will keep your most recent upload. 

Do I have to run the 5K@EASD continuously?

Yes, you have to complete the 5K distance continuously.
It must be completed in one period and cannot be split up on different days or sessions.
However, you are welcome to switch between running and walking at your own pace to cover the 5K distance. 

Can I run in a group?

Yes, you can run in a group or individually.
Registration is now live for the 5K@EASD and we encourage you to run or walk with your friends, family or colleagues.
Running is better with friends! 

Can I participate in a wheelchair or handcycle?

Yes! Please select wheelchair or handcycle when you register! 
Remember to submit your results online after you finish your 5K@EASD.

Can I ride my bike?

While we prefer that you run or walk, you can ride your bike!
Make sure to submit your results online after you finish your race.

Do I earn a medal or reward for participation?

There is no race medal for completion of the 5K@EASD, but after you submit your results through RunSignup, you will receive a personalized certificate of completion with your name and country flag for finishing your 5K@EASD.

Do I get a runner shirt for the 5K@EASD?

Shirts are not available for virtual participants.
There is a limited quantity of 5K@EASD runner shirts available only to Novo Nordisk employees.
Please reach out to your regional coordinator for more information on 5K@EASD runner shirts.

Does the 5K@EASD have a training plan to help me prepare to run or walk 5K?

Yes, there are 8-week training plans in English and Spanish provided by Team Novo Nordisk ambassadors for both running and walking.
