ACOG observes Maternal Health Awareness Day to help more people learn about the urgency of the country’s maternal mortality crisis and how we can work together to reverse its course. As a future physician, I felt the need to do my part in my community and raise awareness through a 5K race that will provide fun events and music, start the conversation with women about maternal/women's health, and teach women how to better advocate for themselves. My goal is to educate my community and assist ACOG in changing the course of an important issue that is preventing many mothers from returning home after delivery. This day will be full of fun, family, and education to raise awareness for maternal health in the state of Georgia. All proceeds will go to Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Georgia.
