Fundraising Toolkit

You can do it, and we’re here to help!

Thank you for being a part of Everybody In! Walk/Move for Perkins. Our mission is to help children with disabilities find their place in the world. As a fundraiser for this event, you’ll help make that possible for more Perkins students.

Our Everybody In Fundraising Toolkit has everything you’ll need to get started. Think of us as your fundraising hype team. We know you've got this, but we're here to help whenever you need it.

The “need-to-know” behind the “how-to”

  • Our tips center around two buckets of communication: digital (email, text, social media) and word of mouth. We have some examples, but please get creative!
  • Tag us where you can. If you favor one social media channel over another, don’t worry. Just don’t forget our hashtag #MoveForPerkins so we can like and share!
    • Facebook: @OfficalPerkins
    • Instagram: @PerkinsVision
    • LinkedIn: Perkins School for the Blind
    • Twitter/X: @PerkinsVision
    • TikTok: Coming soon!
  • We know that asking for donations feels uncomfortable sometimes, but take it from us. If you don’t ask, you won’t receive. In a sea of “asks,” cut through the noise by sharing your perspective. Fundraisers that lead with their connection to the mission will always have the most success.

Tips: Let’s get you fundraising!

Make sure your inner circle — family, friends, coworkers, your favorite neighbor — is in the know with an email or text message. Use it as a reason to pick up the phone and catch up with a pal. After all, inspiration is contagious.

Not sure what to say? How about something like: “I'm participating in Everybody In! Walk/Move for Perkins because I want to support their mission to help children with disabilities find their place in the world. If you'd like to support the work of Perkins School for the Blind, visit my fundraising page to make a contribution of any size.”

We guarantee that Perkins’ mission resonates with folks from every community you’re a part of, from former classmates and past colleagues to fellow PTA parents. Meet them where they are; on social media, in person at school drop-off, or on your local coffee shop’s bulletin board.

Don’t know how to draw others in? Here are a few one-liners you can use in conversation anytime and anywhere:

  • Be a part of Everybody In! Walk/Move for Perkins to unlock opportunity for the 240 million children around the world with disabilities.
  • Be a part of Everybody In! Walk/Move for Perkins to show the world you believe every child can learn.
  • Be a part of Everybody In! Walk/Move for Perkins to support research in the leading cause of childhood blindness.

Everybody loves a shoutout. Don’t forget to praise those that have already donated. After all, folks who feel appreciated are more likely to spread the word in their own network (or, dare we say, donate again?).

Here’s an example: Special thanks to [blank] and [blank] for contributing to my Everybody In! Walk/Move for Perkins fundraiser! There’s still time to help Perkins School for the Blind build a world where everyone belongs. Remember: Donations of any size will help me reach my goal.

Consistency is key. Whether you’ve spent months fundraising or started days before the event, don’t be afraid to ask. Challenge your networks by sharing your progress and ultimate goal. You never know who’s invested in helping you succeed.

Here’s a quick and easy social post, email, or text message to make that final push: It’s the homestretch! Help me reach my fundraising goal for Everybody In! Walk/Move for Perkins. Let’s work together to support children with disabilities and their families. If posting on social media, be sure to tag us and don’t forget to use our event hashtag, #MoveForPerkins.
