STRAIN FOR THE BRAIN

Welcome! On March 29th myself along with my cousins Sari, Sofi, Patty, and Jessica will be walking the last leg of the Camino de Santiago for 5 days covering 72 miles and many towns filled with breathtaking views and amazing culture, all while creating incredible memories of an unforgettable trip. We will start in Sarria, Spain and end our journey at the beautiful Santiago de Compostela Cathedral. In addition, we will meet hundreds of people from all over the world conquering the same pilgrimage. Everyone that does the Camino does it for many different reasons.  My cousins came up with the idea to take this trip because when it all boils down to it, life is short and we need special moments and adventures like this to live life to the fullest. A little bit after flights were booked I felt a nudge to walk for a cause and raise funds for Strain for the Brain. This organization worked directly with my cousin Brenda when she was diagnosed with GBM  (Glioblastoma Multiforme). All proceeds contribute to advancements in research, find better treatment and eventually cures. In addition, proceeds support programs for people affected by this cancer. Groundbreaking research will assist Brenda's neuro-oncologist, Dr. Jennifer Connelly better treat all her patients as well as prepare her medical students at Froedtert Hospital through the Medical College of Wisconsin. I call us the "Camino Cousins" and we're raising funds in memory of Brenda and my Godmother Titi Conchi (Sari's Mom) whose life was also stolen by brain cancer, for those that continue fighting, and for those who will get the news someday. Help us reach our goal and who knows...maybe even surpass it! A few months after our return, I will complete the fundraising on June 2nd by running the Strain for the Brain 5K in Milwaukee (making it 75 miles!) and dream of the day when advanced research will help others beat it or manage it with a good quality of life!
