Water Reliability is our Mission! Since 1947, West Basin has been delivering on its mission of water reliability and establishing drought resiliency through balanced and cost-effective water supply diversification. The District provides imported water to nearly one million people in 17 cities and unincorporated areas in LA County, and implements water conservation programs to help residents and businesses use water more efficiently. West Basin offers free community water education programs to teach our residents about local, national and global water issues. President Scott Houston has spoken at domestic and international conferences about the challenges facing our global water supplies and the future of our water security in the midst of climate change. In addition, he has authored articles on topics that include leadership in California water governance; water safety in the midst of the novel coronavirus pandemic; and the increased public acceptance of recycled water to meet future water supply needs.
