In 2022, my loved ones and I suffered the very untimely passing of our family member, Chaz. My husband and the father of our three children was tragically taken from us at only 36 years old.
According to the Childhood Bereavement Estimation Model, 1 in 12 children will grieve the loss of a parent or sibling by the time they reach 18 years old. The Center for Loss and Bereavement is a resource for these children and for adults that are grieving.
My family, my children, and I go about our day and many people will not see our grief. But we miss Chaz every day. We think about him and we hurt every single day. However, my kids know that they have friends who they can talk to that understand. They have peers their own age who won’t think of them any differently, because they have, unfortunately, also experienced the death of a loved one in their immediate family. For this reason, I am thankful that my kids have The Center For Loss And Bereavement in Skippack.
I am fundraising to assist the bereavement center in providing services to other children and families. Their school-year-round program, Nello’s Corner, is tuition-free for every child, due to generous donors in our community. Donations really make a difference and impact local families. Please consider making a contribution.
Besides coordinating my own team fundraiser, I will also be participating in the Strides of Hope 5k. Like last year, I will be running in memory of Chaz. In life, Chaz really enjoyed fitness. He loved working out, lifting weights, and looking good doing it! Our team, Flexin’ for Chaz, is dedicated to him. Greatly loved, deeply missed, and always in our hearts.
