The Mission
In 2021, Alaska Adoption Services (AAS) launched the Community Diaper Pantry to address a growing need among local families struggling to afford diapers. As we celebrate the pantry's fifth anniversary and the 5th Annual Diaper Dash 5K, we're proud to have distributed more than 1 million diapers to families across the Anchorage area.
Diaper need affects 1 in 2 U.S. families with young children. Because diapers cannot be purchased with SNAP or most government assistance programs, many families face costs of $80–$100 per child each month. Without enough diapers, parents may be unable to access childcare, making it harder to work or attend school.
Every diaper distributed represents a family supported and a child cared for. Thanks to our donors, sponsors, volunteers, and community partners, Alaska Adoption Services continues working to ensure every Alaskan baby has access to this essential need.
Alaska Adoption Services is excited to host the 5th Annual Diaper Dash 5K! Join us as we celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Community Diaper Pantry while raising awareness and funds to support this vital program. The Community Diaper Pantry provides free diapers and wipes to families in need throughout the Anchorage area, ensuring babies have the essentials they need to stay clean, healthy, and dry.
The FREE Children's 1-Mile Fun Run begins at 10:00 a.m. and is open to kids 12 and under. The Diaper Dash 5K will start immediately afterward at 10:30 a.m. Bring the whole family and enjoy a fun-filled morning while supporting the Community Diaper Pantry. Whether you're running, walking, or cheering from the sidelines, every participant helps make a difference for local families in need.
