The Mission
In 2021, Alaska Adoption Services (AAS) saw a need in the community for families struggling to afford diapers for their children. AAS responded to that need by opening the Community Diaper Pantry. To date, AAS has provided over 670,000 diapers to families in need in Anchorage serving 1,500 families. In 2024 alone, we provided 260,000 diapers! Diaper need is a lack of an adequate supply of diapers to keep an infant clean, healthy and dry. Diapers cannot be purchased with any form of government assistance, and 1 in 2 U.S. families struggle to afford them. If they cannot purchase diapers for their children, then they are unable to send their child to daycare and unable to go to work or school. Diapers range from $80-$100 per month per child. We believe every Alaskan baby deserves to have a clean diaper and we are here to help!
