Description
Join us for our second annual BOO! Brain Cancer Bike Challenge & 5K and help us raise funds for pediatric brain cancer research and patient support!
Brain cancer is now the leading cause of death by disease in children and Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) accounts for approximately 50% of those deaths. There is no cure for DIPG and the majority of kids will survive 9-11 months following diagnosis. About 300 children will be diagnosed with DIPG this year in the United States; that means an average of twenty-five (25) kids will receive that terminal diagnosis this month alone. No child deserves to be given a death sentence. Help us raise awareness and change these scary statistics.
The Boo! Brain Cancer Bike Challenge & 5K has several participation options! We are continuing the virtual bike challenge for 2024, in which participants choose to complete 25 or 300 miles during the month of October. We have also added a virtual 5K option, for those who prefer to walk or run.
Proceeds from this race benefit Princess Hailey's Hope Foundation, a childhood cancer charity formed in memory of Hailey Acevedo, who bravely battled DIPG for 17 months. Our mission is to raise funds for childhood brain cancer research, with an emphasis on DIPG, and to support children who are battling the disease.
