The I Love LK 5K is a fund raising event meant to memorialize precious Lila Kate McAlister. LK lived a remarkable 41/2 years, touching the hearts and lives of all people who met her. Born with Down Syndrome, pulmonary hypertension, and a heart defect, simple illnesses such as the common cold were a constant source of concern for her family. On January 10, 2015, Lila Kate left our lives to be in heaven. Raising funds for organizations such as Arkansas Children's Hospital and the Arkansas Down Syndrome Association in her memory is a top priority for her family, friends, and our community.

Balloon Release and Early Packet Pickup

For the fourth year, we are happy to offer early packet pickup at Lake Valley Community Church! (located at 910 Shady Grove Road in Hot Springs)This will coincide with the celebration of Lila Kate's life as we kick off race weekend with a balloon release in her memory. You may pick up your race packet and/or t-shirt orders starting at 4PM and ending at 6PM on Friday, March 15th.

Lila's Mile

For the fourth  year, we will celebrate the unique differences of our special needs participants by holding the very special event "Lila's Mile." This is a very short walk for these participants and their families and will be the kickoff to the 5k this year. The Chic Fil-A cows will walk with the participants (and their families, if they wish) to the finish line where each participant will receive a special award. No registration is necessary. However, participants wishing to receive a shirt should purchase one using the "Store" option found on the menu section of this page.

Late Registration

Registration is available all the way until race day! You can register March 15th, at the early packet pickup and balloon release from 4-6 at Lake Valley Community Church. Or, come on out to the race at Lake Catherine State Park the morning of the race (March 16th) and we will get you signed up then! The race starts at 9AM, and the traffic into the park will be halted by 8:45, so be sure to leave home early.

I Love LK 5k Race Route

The I Love LK 5k race route takes runners and walkers through beautiful Lake Catherine State Park. A map is attached for you to view the route. The 5k starts and ends at the Visitor's Center and is well manned by spirited volunteers and decorated with directional signs. After starting at the Visitor's Center, runners will be directed left along the lake and past the marina. Just after the boat ramp, runners will be guided to turn right toward the camp grounds, and then will take a left into the camp grounds. The route takes runners along the lake and through the camp grounds. Runners will be directed to turn right near campsite 54, for a dogleg turn toward the trail head area. After a sweeping run around the back side of the camp grounds, runners will be turning left onto the main road which includes a long hill and leads out of the park. The one water station provided will be on the down side of this hill near the Visitor's Center. The turnaround will be well marked with an ambulance and cheerful volunteers. This is the last leg of the race. Runners will finish at the Visitor's Center with chip timing.
