Description
Purple for a Purpose 5K & Fun Run is a kickoff event during the month of October, which is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. All funds from the event will go toward the mission of the Junior League of Northwest Arkansas and its community focus of prevention, education, awareness, communication and empowerment regarding domestic violence in all its forms in Northwest Arkansas. Help us make strides against domestic violence by dressing up in purple to raise awareness and running 3.1 miles to symbolize conquering the struggle. We also have "Sleep In for a Purpose" and "1K Kids Character Run" events for other ways to show your support!
Race Route
The race route starts and finishes at Gate 2 at Arvest Ballpark. Runners start off running West on Watkins Ave, turn North on S 64th St, turn East on Apple Rd, then we will have a turn-around point on Apple to go back West on Apple, turn North on S 64th St until you hit another turn-around point, and then runners go straight back South on S 64th St to Watkins and turn East on Watkins to run back to the Ballpark. The course is very flat with one minor hill on the last stretch.
Parking
Parking is free and available at Arvest Ballpark. Because the race route starts on Watkins, Gates 1 and 2 will be inaccessible, so runners will need to enter the Ballpark from Gate 3. Gate 3 is located on S 56th Street. We will have parking attendants to help show the way.
