GENERAL QUESTIONS
What time is the race?
The events times are as follows:
- 5K Run/Walk— 8:30 a.m.
- Character Fun Run— 8:45 a.m.
- Virtual 5K— must be completed on your own and times submitted within a week from the in-person race. Virtual participants are not eligible for awards
Where is the race taking place?
The Atlanta Public Schools 5K will take place at H. J. Russell West End Academy, located at the following address:
765 Peeples Street SW, Atlanta, GA 30303.
What time should I arrive on race day?
5K participants can arrive for check-in and onsite registration from 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. All participants and spectators are encouraged to arrive in adequate time to ensure parking availability or allow for timely drop offs, etc.
Where should I park for the race?
Parking is available in the parking lot at H. J. Russell West End Academy (765 Peeples Street SW, Atlanta, GA 30303). In the event the lot is at capacity, additional parking will be available at Monday Night Brewing at The Garage (933 Lee St SW, Atlanta, GA 30310). *See the parking map HERE.
Will I need to pick up a race packet prior to the Atlanta Public Schools 5K?
Yes, packet pick up will be available at the Alonzo A. Crim Center for Learning and Leadership in the Boardroom (130 Trinity Avenue, SW, Atlanta 30303) on Friday, September 8 from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Registration and packet pick up will also be available on race day in the HJ Russell West End Academy Gymnasium starting at 6:30 am. *View packet pick up details HERE.
When do I receive my race bib and commemorative t-shirt?
You will receive the race bib and commemorative t-shirt at packet pick up. Virtual registrants will receive t-shirts the week following the race unless they are picked up at packet pick up.
Is there a refund policy?
Refunds are not available or permitted for the Atlanta Public Schools 5K. There is no rain check and registrations are not transferable. No exceptions.
5K RUN & WALK INFORMATION
Are there hydration stations along the course?
Yes.
Are there restroom stops or porta-potties along the course?
The restrooms are located at the starting point only.
Will there be medical professionals on hand in case of emergency?
Yes, there will be two medical professionals in attendance.
Are headphones permitted during the race?
Yes. Please use responsibly and at an audible level where emergency vehicles can be heard as well as someone trying to get your attention.
Are pets and animals allowed?
Unfortunately, pets and animals are not permitted at or along the racecourse.
Are strollers allowed?
Yes, strollers are welcome.
Will live updates of the race and times be available during the race?
Final results will be posted live on the registration site; however, live tracking will not be available.
Where will the results of the race be displayed/posted after the race?
The results of the Atlanta Public Schools 5K can be found HERE following the race.
Will spectators be allowed to view the finish?
Yes, there will be a designated area for spectators.
Will there be an awards ceremony?
Yes, Atlanta Public Schools 5K will have a Closing Awards Ceremony directly following the race, approximately anywhere between 9:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
CHARACTER FUN RUN INFORMATION
What is the age limit for the Character Fun Run?
The Character Fun Run is only available for youth ages 11 and under.
How long is the distance for the Character Fun Run?
Approx. 1,000 Meters
What are the costume guidelines for the Character Fun Run?
Participants should dress as their favorite book character. Family-friendly characters and costumes only. Sharp objects, weapons, or weapon-like items are prohibited. Face masks are allowed as long as they do not fully cover the face and the eyes are fully visible giving the participant full, unhindered eyesight.
Do the participants of the Character Fun Run receive a Commemorative t-shirt and race bib?
Yes, they can be picked up at packet pick up.
