HOW TO VOLUNTEER
We are using - RunSignUp - a new system that looks different than previous years.
- You will click on the PURPLE "CLICK HERE TO VOLUNTEER" button below.
- From the Volunteer Sign Up page first choose a category, then check the box for the task time slot you want, then click complete sign up by clicking the button and filling out the information.
- Please make sure you are available for the entire time slot listed for each task. You will choose from the following categories:
COURSE VOLUNTEERS
Course volunteers keep our runners safe and provide much needed excitement and energy along the course. Runners continually tell us it is our volunteers who make this race so amazing! Course volunteers are assigned to intersections and turns along the course. For the safety of our runners, you will need to remain on the course for the entire time runners are present or until the course closes. Please sign up for a course section that best meets your needs. More detailed descriptions and check in information will be emailed the week prior to the race.
If you have a larger group (6 or more) and would like to be placed at intersections close together on the course, please email us and let us know. We will do our best to place you as close together as possible.
**PLEASE SEE DESCRIPTIONS OF COURSE VOLUNTEER SECTIONS AND TYPES BELOW**
FINISH LINE VOLUNTEERS
Finish line volunteers help with setup and tear down and provide runner assistance (food, medals, water) at the finish line area. Descriptions for each task, as well as time slots are listed on the sign up page. Please sign up for a course section that best meets your needs. More detailed descriptions and check in information will be emailed the week prior to the race.
"SUPER STAR" VOLUNTEERS
Our "Super Stars" are volunteers who want to take on more responsibility with some of our most essential volunteer roles. Prior volunteer and/or running experience is recommended. Our "Super Stars" include:
-
- Zone Leaders
- SAG Wagon Drivers
- AnyWhere EveryWhere Crew
Descriptions and time slot information for each can be found on the sign up page.
Thank you again!! If you have any questions, please email us at volunteer@bellevillemarathon.com.

COURSE VOLUNTEER INFO
Before you sign up as a course volunteer, please review the details below and choose a section and type of intersection that best meets your needs. You must be available for the entire time slot listed. The safety of our runners depends on intersections being covered.
Course Sections - see map below
Section 1 - Main & 4th to Main & N. Belt West (miles .25-3.25 & 11-14)
Check in Time: ~6:15A - 6:30A
Intersection Coverage Time: ~7:00A - 11:30A
Both full and half marathon runners will pass each intersection 2 times Note, some of these intersections are Double Duty. These positions include moving from one intersection to a second nearby intersection once runners pass the first location.
Section 2 - Main & 47th to Signal Hill (miles 3.25 - 11)
Check in Time: ~6:30A - 6:50A
Intersection Coverage Time: ~7:15A - 10:45A
Both full and half marathon runners will pass each intersection 2 times (except for those in Signal Hill after 95th which is full marathon only). The turn around for the Half Marathon is located on 95th in this section (near mile 8 on map).
Section 3 - Full Marathon miles 14-26 (mostly on MetroLink Trail)
Check in Time: ~7:20A - 7:40A
Intersection Coverage Time: ~8:00A - 1:30P
This section starts where the full marathon breaks from the half at ~mile 14 (W. Main/6th) and continues to the East YMCA and returns to the finish. Most of these intersections will be on the bike trail . Full marathon runners will pass almost all intersections 2 times. All intersections in this section are 2 or 3 person intersections due to the length of coverage time, this will allow one person at a time to take short food/potty breaks as necessary.
Intersection Types
- Individual - These intersections are primarily lower traffic intersections.
- 2 or 3 Person - An Intersection with 2 or 3 people assigned. Due to length of time, directional changes or higher traffic intersections.
- **If you would like to be placed with another volunteer at an intersection, there will be a question when you sign up to indicate Note, each volunteer must sign up separately and for the same section.
- Assertive - Assertive intersections are for experienced and/or assertive volunteers due to critical course directional changes and/or very high traffic intersections.
COURSE VOLUNTEER RACE DAY INFORMATION
Detailed information on check in and intersection location will be emailed the week before the race. All volunteers will check in at a designated location on the course and then proceed to your assigned intersection. In addition, more details on what to expect, what to bring, and other information will be provided at that time.
Each section will be broken into Zones. Your Zone Leader will check you in on race day and be available to answer any questions.
T-shirts, safety vests, and any signage needed will be provided at check in.
