What is the Beer City Series? How does it work? How do I win?
Beer City Half is a series of 4 half marathons (the Beer City Grand Slam) and 1 Race of Champions. Each race has champions and age group winners like any other ways. When you race, you're automatically entered into the series results. The races take place in Alameda, Sacramento, San Jose, Santa Rosa the SLAM which takes place in the dark dusty crossroads of Quarry Lakes in Fremont. Is this race chip-timed
Yes, all races except for the Jedi Fun Run are chip-timed.
What kind of schwag is there?
Each finisher receives The Key Beer City medal (which doubles as a bottle opener). Hold it close! All finishers also receive a custom Beer City Half shirt and a special Beer City tasting glass made from recycled plastic. Yay sustainability!
Is there packet pickup? When is it? Where is it? Can I pick up race day?
There is packet pickup on Friday, May 3 from 3-7pm at Fleet Feet Sacramento, 2311 J St, Sacramento. No, this isn't required. Yes, you can pick up for friends. You can pick up on race morning too. To wit:
On race day, there is bib pickup starting just after 7am at Drakes The Barn.
Will there be beer? What else will be at the finish?
There will be beer tastes for racers over 21 years of age as well as non-alcoholic beer and other drinks like bubbly water and soda pop. There will also be post-race treats including Bellwether Farms yogurt, and OCHO bars, as well as fruit.
Do I get beer at the finish? How much? Is admission to Beer City Festival Saturday afternoon included?
Yes, if you're over 21, you'll receive 2 7oz taste of beer, as well as non-alchoholic drinks and snacks. Beer City Festival is not included with your race entry. That starts at 11am and takes place at The Barn. There are 3 different packages of tasting tickets to choose. You can purchase these at check out, or on race day.
Where does the race start and finish?
All races start and finish at Drake's The Barn (985 Riverfront St, West Sacramento, CA 95691)
Where do I park?
Metered parking is available on street near The Barn. The first two hours are free and after that, parking is $1.50 per hour. There is also a parking lot on the corner of 5th Street and Bridge Street.
What's the Jedi Fun Run about?
It's a time to celebrate May the Fourth be with you with a stroll and a beer. We have found that folks come with friends who want a taste of beer and something to do. So we send you off with a taste of beer. You walk a mile. You have more beer. Maybe you wear your Chewbacca costume. Maybe you look like Chewbacca to begin with. It's fun and family friendly. You also get the same schwag as your over-achieving front or spouse who's running the full race. You don't have to be over 21 to take part in the Jedi Fun Run. Only if you want the beer part.
