Home Run 5K Race FAQs
What is the Home Run 5K?
- So glad you asked. The Home Run 5k is a virtual 5k that brings together Bethesda Project supporters to complete 3.1 miles on a course of their choosing. This could be anywhere! Around the block in a neighborhood, on the track at your town’s high school, or even on a treadmill. If you are participating in this year's event from somewhere extra special, we’d love to hear about it! Please send us a picture to this email or tag us on social media!
Ok, so when is the race?
- The race is completed virtually. In addition, we are pleased to offer all registrants the opportunity to participate in our Tour de Bethesda walk and the Celebration Block Party. Please complete your virtual portion and log it any time between 12:00am on October 6th, 2023, and 11:59pm on October 8th, 2023.
- The Tour de Bethesda walk will begin at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 7th. Following the walking tour, we party! Join us for the Celebration Block Party starting at 1:00pm at the Rail Park. Join us for a community event that will be open to all Home Run 5k registrants, Bethesda Project staff, guests, residents, and community members.
I know this is a fundraiser. Is there a fundraising minimum? Where is the money raised going?
- This year there is no fundraising minimum, just a $40 registration fee. A $200 fundraising goal is strongly encouraged, because 100% of the funds we raise from our Home Run 5k support our programs and operations benefiting individuals experiencing homelessness. For instance, if you raise $500 for the race, you’re providing five weeks of shelter and assistance for one guest! For more information, please visit www.bethesdaproject.org.
Can I, or my company, sponsor the event?
- Absolutely! If you or your company are interested in sponsoring the Home Run 5K, please contact Emma Stern, Director of Development, at estern@bethesdaproject.org.
