Donation FAQs

How do I make a donation to the Montefiore Nyack Hospital Breast Center?

The donation page will appear during the registration process while signing up for the Blow Away Breast Cancer 5k, or you can donate directly by clicking the Donate button on the race page.  

Steps to make Donations:

1.  Click the Donate button, or select Donate > Donate from the menu bar.  Or if registering for the virtual 5k, the Donation page will display automatically.
2.  Scroll down to the Donation Amount.  If you want to donate to a fundraiser/fundraiser team, refer to the next FAQ section.
3.  Type in the amount of your donation.
4.  Select who your donation is on behalf of (yourself, anonymous, or other).  This displays in the scrolling list of donors.
Note:  If you select “Other,” it does not apply your donation to a fundraiser or team. You must actually select a fundraiser/team in order to apply your donation to them.
5.  Continue registration process or enter payment information and confirm your donation.

How do I donate to a Fundraiser/Fundraising Team?

You can donate to a fundraiser or fundraising team during the registration process for the Blow Away Breast Cancer 5k or by clicking the Donate button on the race page.

A Fundraiser is a collection of the donations made to that fundraiser.  The donations are pooled together for a specific charity or charities (Montefiore Nyack Hospital Breast Center).  
A Fundraiser Team is a collection of individual Fundraisers that are pooled together to show support for a specific charity or charities as one fundraising group.
Donations made directly to an individual Fundraiser will be attributed to a Team Fundraiser, if applicable.  
Donations made directly to a Team Fundraiser do not attribute back to any individual Fundraiser that is part of that team.

Steps to make Donations through a Fundraiser or Fundraiser Team:

1.     Click the Donate button, or select Donate > Donate from the menu bar.  Or if registering for the virtual 5k, the Donation page will display automatically.
2.     Using the pink button, select an individual Fundraiser or Fundraiser Team to apply your donation toward to help them reach their goals.  The name you selected will appear just above the Donation Amount.  Remember, if you select an individual fundraiser, your donation will also be attributed to the applicable fundraiser team.  If you select a team fundraiser directly, your donation goes directly into that team fundraiser – it does not attribute back to any individual fundraiser.
3.  Type in the amount of your donation.
4.  Select who your donation is on behalf of (yourself, anonymous, or other).  This displays in the scrolling list of donors.  
5.  Continue registration process or enter payment information and confirm your donation.

How do I create a personal Fundraiser or Fundraising Team?

Becoming a Fundraiser allows users to create a goal for multiple donors to apply their donations to. Additionally, users can create Fundraising Teams to allow multiple Fundraisers to apply their Donations towards a common goal.

1.     Click the Donate button and select Become a Fundraiser, or select Donate > Become a Fundraiser from the menu bar.  If registering for the virtual 5k, the Donation page will display automatically within the registration process and you can then press the Become a Fundraiser button and the personal fundraiser options will be opened for you.
2.     Enter in a name for your Fundraiser.  Your Fundraiser Name is not a Fundraising Team Name.  Fundraising Teams are groupings of Fundraisers working towards a collective goal, which is why the norm for Fundraiser Names is usually your name.
3.     Enter in a goal for your new Fundraiser.
4.     Your Fundraiser Page URL can be customized to allow for easier sharing amongst friends and family.  Simply enter in text that is unique to your fundraiser after https://runsignup.com/.
5.     Add a message to describe your Fundraiser.   This text can be customized with different headings and content, including links and lists, and will appear on your RunSignup fundraiser page.  
6.     You can upload a Fundraiser Image by clicking “Choose File” and selecting one from your computer.
7.     When finished, click Set Up Fundraiser.
