Swim Course Info

Lake Lou Yaeger in Litchfield, Illinois is a beautiful 1269 acre lake with just under 25 miles of shoreline. We have been blessed to create and host the Litchfield Triathlou Triathlon here for over 12 years, and now we are very excited to offer a stand alone half distance triathlon at the tail end of tri season in the midwest! The city, neighbors, and lake team are amazing partners welcoming us annually. Below you will find detailed information for each events swim course.

Water Temp/Wetsuits: Our early September triathlon typically see's temps in the lower 70's race morning. We anticipate the water to be mid to upper 60's race morning in October. We will keep everyone posted as the event nears, but we do KNOW it will be wetsuit legal. (Wetsuits Strongly Encouraged)

Swim Course: Border Wars Half Distance Triathlon is a 1.2 mile course. This course will be three .4 mile loops as shown below. Participants will swim clockwise keeping the buoys on the right side the entire swim. Once parallel to the shore athletes will jog a very short section on the shoreline tagging the timing mats before entering back into the water.
