Create Your Fundraising Page

Where do I start?
You already did - you're here! First, register for one of the races happening this year. Then, either as part of the registration process or by clicking the "Become a Fundraiser" button at the top of this page, start creating your personalized fundraising page. It's easy - for real. We included some sample text you can use to get started, but be sure to edit and make it your own! Upload a photo and tell your story - personalizing your campaign is key to your success. Finally, make a donation to your fundraiser and show people you are committed to this effort!

Ok, I made a fundraising page but...now what?
Share it! You can share a link to your fundraising page on all your social media, send it out in a personal email, add it to a slack channel at work...you get the idea. It is important to share it again and again, as the research says people often need up to 7 reminders before they give! Don't be afraid to keep telling your story and letting others know why you are inspired to raise money for Brave Like Gabe. Give your followers a sense for how your 5K training is going, how your fundraising is progressing, and keep posting those photos that make it even more personal! We highly recommend checking out the RunSignUp resources especially this post about Managing Your Fundraiser.

OMG I set a goal and I passed it!
Congratulations! KEEP GOING! Setting a moderate goal when you start is a good idea, that way when you pass it right by you can set a new, larger goal! People love to see your progress so be sure and keep your donors and friends updated on how your fundraising is going - it's inspiring (and serves as one of those seven reminders)!

What else can I do to inspire donations?
We're glad you asked - it's being creative that puts the 'fun' in fundraising. Here are a few ideas!
     - Reach out to your friends and family directly! Having a personal conversation about Brave Like Gabe and what inspires you to raise money on our behalf is really powerful. Be sure and make a clear ask, something like "I'm asking people to give $50, or an amount that is meaningful to them". Giving people a number and asking directly often reduces the anxiety about "how much?" or "what if it's not enough?". Ensure people that every donation counts, no matter the amount.
     - Offer some fun incentives! You could agree to put all your donors names on your race-day shirt, or bake each donor a treat, or - and this is our personal favorite - we know of a gal who writes a personal poem for each of her donors! Be creative and know it's ok to keep it simple.
     - Ask your employer about matching your donations! Many organizations offer matching opportunities and if they do be sure and share that with your community. Matching grants are really motivating!
     - Make it personal! Our Brave Like Gabe Website, Facebook and Instagram pages are full of stories, photos, and quotes that you can share and connect to your own story of bravery and hope. Did we say personalizing your asks is key? It is!
