We are so excited you are joining us for the Seventh Annual Brave Like Gabe 5K! The FAQs below are designed to ensure your success. Give them a read!

What's the difference between the Flagship Event in St Paul, the Pop-Up Locations, and the Virtual 5K?
If you're in our neighborhood on September 28th we really hope you'll join us in-person at Como Regional Park. If that's your plan, please register for the "Flagship Brave Like Gabe 5K".

NOTE: Registration for this St. Paul event closes at midnight on Monday, September 23rd. There is no race day registration!

 

If you live in or near one of our Pop-Up Locations, you may register for that specific event and join with others to celebrate Gabe with a 5K! We are adding events and details daily so visit the Pop-Up Location page often, and choose "Pop-Up Brave Like Gabe 5Ks" in the registration process.

 

We also welcome virtual runners worldwide, so if you're anywhere but Minnesota or one of our Pop-Ups on or around September 28th you should register for the "Virtual Brave Like Gabe 5K"

 

Your registration for any event gets you entry into that race, a race bib and a race t-shirt.


So what about these Pop-Up Events?
Folks around the country are gathering together to honor Gabe with a Pop-Up 5K in various locations.

Here's how this works:
     - If you are in one of the cities listed, please register for the Pop-Up Brave Like Gabe 5K 
     - Check the box next to the city you'll be in on race day
     - Pick up your race packet at your local store/group meet location
     - Run together on race day!

If I register for the Virtual 5K do I have to run on September 28th? 

We'd love it if you did but you are welcome to run when it works for you, from anywhere in the world. We'd love to see your run photos so be sure to post them and tag us!

Will there be a race t-shirt? 
Absolutely! You'll see it in the registration process and it was designed by Kelly Nold and printed at Bitter Buffalo!


Can I change my t-shirt size?
Until August 1 you may change your t-shirt size by going in to "manage my registration".  After that date you will no longer be able to make that change.

That race t-shirt is so worth it, I want to buy extras!
You're in luck! As part of the registration process you can purchase additional t-shirts. Don't forget: you get one free with each registration, but if you want another one for your child or a friend who isn't able to run in September, we've got you covered.

 

What is Abby's Run?
If you're joining us at the Flagship event in St. Paul plan on having your little ones join Abby's Run! Named in honor of Abby Anderson, Gabe's sister, we encourage young runners to take on a shorter course just before the official 5K begins. There is no registration required simply join in on race day. To purchase t-shirts for those little fun runners, be sure to watch for that option during your own registration process. We included a chance to outfit the whole family!

 

I've never raised money for a charity before - I'm not sure I can do it!
You can! Start by visiting our Why Fundraise? page and give that a read. We're also planning a virtual meet-up for our fundraisers later in June so you'll be able to check-in, ask questions, and celebrate your progress. Between now and then you can always reach out to us at info@bravelikegabe.org and we're happy to help. It's folks like you, sharing the Brave Like Gabe story and inviting your communities to donate, that have the biggest impact on our ability to fund rare cancer research. You got this! 

 

What does my registration include?
Your registration includes entry into one of our races, a race bib, and a race t-shirt.

 

When will I receive my running packet? 
For those of you running with us virtually, all registrations will be mailed. Keep an eye on those mailboxes! 

Participants at Pop-Up Locations will receive their race packets on race day as part of the local event.

If you are joining us in St. Paul, you can join us for a packet pick up party at Forgotten Star Brewing on September 26th - details to come! You can also pick up your race packet on race morning!

 

Can I run with my stroller? 
Sure! We simply ask that you start our race towards the back for safety. If you're running with your stroller in our virtual race, send us photos!

 

What about my dog?
We love dogs! In fact, one of our long-time sponsors is NutriSource so and stop to grab a sample at the St. Paul event! When it comes to the race we simply ask that you start our race towards the back for safety. If you are running with your dog in our virtual race, send us photos! 

 

Will there be awards?
While our in-person race will have a certified course and chip timing, none of our races have official winners or awards. But, we hope you'll feel the rewarding sense of accomplishment and community that is always part of the Brave Like Gabe 5K. You're all winners in our hearts ❤

 

Where do the registration fees and donations go?
Proceeds from this event will go to the Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma Research Foundation to support research focused on ACC, Gabe's specific type of cancer.
