If you're hanging around this weekend waiting for your runner, Elm Lake is the place to be. Each person entering the park is required to have a park pass; see the Park Pass & Shuttle information page.
"Tent City" is the sea of canopies that takes over the Elm Lake grass area, plenty of room for families and crew to setup a personal support area for their runners and hang out all weekend long. Just remember, there is no overnight camping or parking at Elm Lake on Friday night. You may leave your personal support area setup on Friday night so it's ready to go on Saturday.
Elm Lake Rules:
Use common sense, be respectful to those around you, and follow park rules. Please no ground fires, smoke fires, loud generators, loud music, modification/disturbing of the ground or trees, no camp-style tents. Do not leave any trace of you being there. Take home all gear and trash. Do not pile trash around the portacans or full dumpsters; please take it home.
Elm Lake Setup: You may start setting up personal support and crew areas in the Elm Lake area from Noon to 7 PM on Friday. The Elm Lake area is closed from 7 PM on Friday to 5 AM on Saturday. Everyone must vacate Elm Lake on Friday night; no vehicles are allowed overnight in the area. On Saturday morning, do not stop along the roadway to unload; we must keep the shuttles moving efficiently. Gear can be brought on the shuttles, but please be courteous with your space and time for the shuttle and other riders. Beginning Saturday afternoon, it may be possible to move your vehicle closer to the Elm Lake parking area.
Spectating on Course:
Please do not provide physical support (gear/assistance/fueling/hydration/etc) to your runner between aid stations; this is against the rules. You may spectate/cheer anywhere on the course, but please keep the course clear for participants. Popular viewing areas include 40 Acre and Nature Center, which can be accessed by foot from Elm Lake or by taking the shuttle.
Nature Center:
This is a good visitor stop, especially for kids, as there are interactive wildlife exhibits and park ranger discussions.
