Our Mission
"Empower young women and support the fight against breast cancer."
Breast Run Ever is more than just a race—it’s a community effort led by young women to make a meaningful impact. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Pink Fund, a nonprofit organization that provides financial support to individuals undergoing active breast cancer treatment.
Pink Fund helps ease the financial burden of breast cancer by assisting with essential living expenses, including housing, transportation, utilities, and insurance. This support allows patients to focus on their treatment and recovery rather than the stress of keeping up with everyday bills.
Breast cancer can be devastating physically, emotionally, and financially. No one facing breast cancer should also have to worry about paying household expenses or putting food on the table. By addressing these often-overlooked financial challenges, Pink Fund provides critical support when patients need it most.
Meet the Organizers
This event is proudly organized by sisters Maddie and Taylor Murrell.
Maddie Murrell is a freshman at Duke University who is passionate about using service and leadership to make a positive difference in her community.
Maddie founded Breast Run Ever as her "senior project" for the Ocean Lakes Math and Science Academy, going above-and-beyond to create a community-wide event that raised awareness for breast cancer and brought together runners, volunteers, local businesses, and families. Seeing the meaningful impact the race had inspired Maddie to continue the event beyond graduation.
She is excited to host Breast Run Ever again in 2026 and hopes to continue growing its reach while supporting those affected by breast cancer.
Taylor Murrell is a senior at Virginia Tech studying Mathematics and Computer Science. As co-founder of Breast Run Ever, Taylor enjoys combining creativity, technology, and organization to help make the annual race a success.
She has contributed to everything from website development, race branding, and custom T-shirt design to permits, sponsorship outreach, volunteer coordination, and race-day operations. One of the most rewarding parts of the event is working alongside her younger sister, Maddie, to support women in their community and raise awareness for breast cancer.
Taylor hopes Breast Run Ever continues to inspire others while making a meaningful difference for those affected by breast cancer.
