Bakersfield Track Club (BTC) Statement About COVID-19 and BTC Events
New Date: Unknown April 2021
Given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic we are choosing to continue to postpone the Bakersfield Track Club’s Kern River Trail Run is indefinitely posposted. Because we love the uniqueness of this event, we feel that they would lose the spirit of it if it was to all be made virtual. As good stewards in the community we cannot responsibly set a firm date for 2021. We understand you are disappointed. We are too, but as we entering the flu season and with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we must fall back on and follow the CDC and California Department of Public Health Guidelines for gatherings to protect ourselves and others. We will update RunSignUp and Facebook as we get more information. Thank you for your continued support of the Bakersfield Track Club during these uncertain times.

Statement About COVID-19 and BTC Events
Hello Supporters of the BTC and BTC Events,
As you have experienced and seen in the news and on social media, many events are being cancelled due to the uncertainty of COVID-19. We are closely monitoring this dynamic situation and at this time we are going to move forward with postponing the Kern River Trail Run that was scheduled to be on April 25, 2020. As you know this is part of our BTC's Distance Challenge series and one of the core events for the BTC. We will be following the recommendations of local, state, and federal agencies as we all continue to monitor and work on rescheduling this event for October 17, 2020. Please continue to check our website, the calendar event on the website, and our Facebook pages for updates.
We appreciate your support!

Kern River Trail Run: 10 Mile, 10k, and 5k TRAIL RUN in the hills around Hart Park.
The races will be at Hart Park, Section 2 and will be hilly. This is a TRAIL RUN. This will NOT BE RUN on a bike path and will include hills, dirt, uneven terrain, rocks and other natural debris that comes with running on a non-paved surface. Please plan to pack water and any special nutrition you may want on trail. There will be aid stations with water and Gatorade, but due to the course being on trail they will not be every mile.
This trail is kid friendly, but not stroller friendly, and we ask that you please do not bring your dog. There will be places that this trail runs as single track trail. Please be mindful of your safety and the safety of others. We ask that if you wear headphones you please keep one ear free to hear other runners or race instructions.
Races Start at 7:30 a.m.
Discount offered for BTC MEMBERS!
COURSES
The 5k
The 5K course is a looping course that will run along the river then head up to the hills of Hart Park; starting and ending in Section 2 of Hart Park.
The 10k
The 10K course is a looping course that will run along the same course as the 5K until the second aid station, then be prepared to climb! This course starts and ends in Section 2 of Hart Park.
The 10 miler
The 10M course is a looping course that will run along the same course as the 5k and 10k runs. Just like the 10k, after the second aid station be prepared to start climbing! This is definitely not the easiest 10 mile jaunt through the hills. Be prepared to work those legs as you climb and enjoy the hills of Hart Park. Like the 5k and 10k runs, the 10M starts and ends in Section 2 of Hart Park.
Awards will be given for the top three finishers (male/female) in each division.
