Description

23rd annual meditative and serene run and is a Boston Qualifier (among others) as well as part of Series Runner. All races are run on the grounds of historic Camp Roberts Army National Guard Reservation, just north of San Miguel, California. Out-and-back course on paved road with dirt and packed gravel shoulders. Flat to gentle rolling hills, with breathtaking views of oak-studded hillsides, Salinas and Nacimiento Rivers and abundant Central Coast wildlife. Some compare course to a trail run. Start line is at 620' at crosswalk in front of sports arena (gym) and rises to 977' at the marathon turn-around spot. You will truly enjoy this event!

COURSE ( #CA pending)  We have been able to return to the course that begins at the gymnasium which will be our headquarters. That means showers will also be available (bring your own towel) after race for your comfort. The race course recertification will happen this fall when things cool down a bit and the Guard training schedule eases up for access.

Passengers in a vehicle accompanying participant must be on the security list so need to register as a passenger and sign the waiver.

Subject to change as the pandemic makes it updates over time: *COVID Note: No one allowed indoors (other than small groups in the two museums) and masks a must indoors. Hand sanitizer available and social distancing will be monitored by base commander and her security team.*

Child care available by request. If your child is in the mile run for the under age 12's we will get them to start line and pickup from the finish. Museum and annex open during race and some military vehicles for viewing/climbing.

New this year: An EXPO sponsored by and to support the MWR Program (Morale, Welfare & Recreation)  for the troops on base and training rotation troops year around. It will be on Saturday on the athletic field and include bounce houses, games, vendors.

SECURITY NOTE: To enter this federal facility you will need current driver's license, current car registration, and current proof of insurance (rental agreement works if you have a rental).  Foreign nationals will need to send copies of passport, photo id/drivers license to the base security DPO (or race director) by February 10, 2023 for vetting. Everyone entering base will be asked to sign a "Hold Harmless" Agreement at security checkin. Try to checkin on Friday as it takes about 10 minutes to process unless you are in the system from last year then it will be 3-5 minutes.

Book lodging early! This is a weekend wine country destination (as well as big 4H/FFA Western Bonanza at the Midstate Fairgrounds) so rooms fill early. Lodging may be available on base by contacting the Billeting Office.

The old gymnasium has finished renovations and is now the Sports Arena. We have returned our staging area and Start/Finish line to that spot. That means showers are again available - bring your own towel.
