SGRAIL is so much more than a triathlon. Expect the beauty of Marin County — the Bay, the Golden Gate and China Camp State Park — varied courses and aid stations with real character, plus a full weekend of community: a sporty warm-up, great local food, and SGRAIL founder Jan Frodeno on-site all weekend. At SGRAIL it's not about the clock — it's about the experience, the food and the moments you share.

DISTANCES
- Olympic Triathlon — 1,500 m swim / 40K bike / 10K run
- Olympic Relay (2–3 people) — 1,500 m swim / 40K bike / 10K run
- Trail Half Marathon — 13.1 mi / 21K
- SGRAIL Challenge — Triathlon + Trail Half Marathon (both days)
- Kids "Fun" Event (13 & under) — Friday, October 2 - 1 Mile Bike / 0.6 Mile Run
- All participants of this race will receive a complimentary Annual Youth Membership
EVENT WEEKEND SCHEDULE
- THURSDAY — Bib pick-up @ Sports Basement Novato (3:00 PM - 7:00 PM)
- FRIDAY — Bib pick-up · 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM
- Kids Fun Event @ McNears Beach Park @ 5:00 PM (1 Mile Bike / 0.6 Mile Run)
- There will not be transition access on Friday, no gear drop-off. The transition access will only be available Saturday.
- SATURDAY Olympic Triathlon & Relay
- 7:00 AM Gates open
- 7:15 AM Transition opens
- 8:30 AM Roads close (no parking or park access via car)
- 8:40 AM Transition Closes
- 9:00 AM Start Wave 1
- 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM Transition open for bike/gear pick-up (You must pick-up your gear/bike on Saturday, there will be no overnight holds)

Truth be told, we're here because we love this sport and all its diversity — the nerves before a race, the new adventures, and the joy of the process of getting to those days. That's when nature becomes our playground, and "getting lost" out there is a beautiful part of the journey. That's where SGRAIL comes from: hours of exploring with friends, pushing each other — but never just for a personal best. VOLUNTEER AT SGRAIL MARIN
Not able to race but want to be involved? Volunteer!
Earn yourself credits and discounts for 2027, you still earn a t-shirt, sailfish swim cap, get fed and get to hang out with Jan Frodeno & Emma for the weekend!
Without the support of enthusiastic and caring volunteers, producing our races would not be possible. All volunteers receive a free race T-shirt, free food, and the ability to earn credit toward a future SGRAIL event (commensurate to the amount of time worked).

Please note that we depend on each and every person who signs up to volunteer! Losing just one volunteer has a deep impact on the race and other volunteers’ assignments, so please do not submit a form to help us out if you are unsure if you will be able to make it.

Anyone 15+ years of age can sign up to volunteer. Children aged 12-14 must be accompanied by an adult, and those under 12 years of age may accompany an adult, but do not count as volunteer support.
If there are any questions, concerns, or issues that arise, contact the RD or one of the staff members.
Race Credits
Credits are earned in 5 hour increments. Credits will be valid for two years following the date you volunteered. Volunteer credits do not guarantee entry if the event is sold out. Please request to use these credits before the event sells out.
5 hours = $150 off registration
10 hours = $300 off registration
