That glow you see on the horizon is the 35th Annual Santa Cruz Sunrise Rotary Club’s Firecracker Run. There are three distances, something for the whole family – a 10K, a 5K and a 1K for the kids.
This is the second run of the RUN SANTA CRUZ Series- sponsored by Road iD. There will be three qualifying events - Go Green St. Patrick's Day Run - Santa Cruz Firecracker - Jingle Bell Rock. Each event has a 1k, 5k, and 10k. Participants will be assigned points based on overall finishing place, in all three races.
Registration is open. The only thing missing is you! Yep - that's right - registration for next year's race is open because the race is ALWAYS on July 4, and it's a Saturday in 2020.
Since 1985, The Firecracker 10k has been a Santa Cruz Independence Day tradition. Started by the City of Santa Cruz in 1985, the race was taken over by the Santa Cruz Sunrise Rotary Club in 2004. Chartered in 1985, SC Sunrise Rotary is a club of over 100 high-energy community and business leaders and volunteers drawn together by the common desire to give back to our community and beyond.
The proceeds from the Firecracker races, one of the largest annual benefit events, are applied to local community, national and international charity projects.
