Description
Touro University California College of Osteopathic Medicine encourages our campus community to get outside and participate in a 5K run, walk, roll, or hike to honor those that we have lost. The 5K will take place between April 3 – May 3, 2021 and, since we cannot gather together physically, each individual may decide best on how to complete their 5K goal.
The theme of this event is “Grok”. This word comes from the book “Stranger in a Strange Land” by Robert Heinlein and means to "“to understand so thoroughly that the observer becomes part of the observed -- to merge, to blend, to lose identity in an experience.” Dictionary.com defines "Grok" as to “understand (something) intuitively or by empathy”. It serves as a testament to those TUC community members we have lost and encourages all of us continue to understand and empathize with those that we serve.
Please take time join members of the TUC community as we merge with our surroundings in order to reflect, remember, grieve, and heal. Enjoy all of the beauty and awe that nature has to offer.
