Please wear your bib on the FRONT of your body and OUTSIDE of your clothing so it can be easily seen as you come to the finish line and challenge stations. (Unless you're running backwards, then adjust accordingly.) :) The timing assistants at the finish line may ask for your bib number if it is not visible. Please do not cross the finish line more than once.
Only the 10k is timed:
Your results will be available instantly online at webscorer.com. Use the webscorer app to find your time, or stop by the 3W Races Tent and look it up on the results iPad!
In the 10k, the top three overall and in each age group will be awarded with a medal. You must be present to win; awards will not be mailed.
In the 2k, we'll award a medal to the top 3 men and women overall.
Raffle winners must also be present to win. Check the 3W Tent to see if you’ve won – raffle tickets are drawn during the event, so they’ll be posted when you finish!
We offer advanced packet pick up as we don’t want you to stand in line for too long on race day morning. We’ll be at Road Runner Sports in Westminster THURSDAY (11/20/2014) from 4 PM to 7PM
10436 Town Center Drive, Westminster – near Buffalo Wild Wings. If you can’t make it to a pick up, you may send a friend to collect your packet for you.
Road Runner Sports extends a DISCOUNT to all racers picking up their packets on Thursday afternoon, so plan on picking up that new pair of shoes or insulated running gear when you're in the store!
Park at the far south end of the Long Lake Ranch Park parking area – this is near the practice soccer fields. As you come into the park – the driveway is pretty long – keep driving until you reach the most southern part possible. When you see the port a johns, you’ll know you’re in the right place!
17850 W 64th Avenue, Arvada, Colorado is the approximate address.
From Boulder and points north, take Hwy 93 SOUTH to Arvada’s 64th Pkwy. As of 11/20/2013, the actual road sign designating ‘64th Pkwy’ was missing. Therefore, pay attention to the signs that say “Arvada”! The turn will be before North Table Mountain and there will be a large (3 Story), beige colored water tank in the northeast corner of the intersection. Turn left onto 64th Pkwy and travel 1 mile to the driveway entrance of the Long Lake Ranch Regional Park on your right. While you are traveling for that mile, you will pass the North Area Athletic Complex and, an additional entrance to Long Lake Ranch Park which is gated on your right, a Dog Park and a Disc Golf Course on your left.
From Golden and points south, take Hwy 93 NORTH to Arvada’s 64th Pkwy. Turn right onto 64th Pkwy and travel 1 mile to the driveway entrance of the Long Lake Ranch Regional Park on your right. While you are traveling for that mile, you will pass the North Area Athletic Complex and, an additional entrance to Long Lake Ranch Park which is gated on your right, a Dog Park and a Disc Golf Course on your left.
Those of you who have raced with us before know that we run a cup free finish area. We’ll have drinking water available for filling your bottle. Please remember to bring a water bottle. Feel free to run with your water or, as many do, leave it at the finish line water station to pick up after you’re done running. 10k runners will pass two water stations. You can refill your bottle at the station, and there will be some cups at the station as well.
There is NO water station for the 2k Toddle.
Late packet pick up and same day registration will run from 7 AM until 8 AM. Bring your friends – same day registration is $50 ($45 for no shirt option.)
The Expo area with some of our local business partners is open from 7:30 to approximately 10:00 AM.
We will start on time so please plan enough time for your morning “bathroom-warm-up-phone-a-friend-for-good-luck” routine before 8:30 AM. (2k at 8:45) Race officials will direct you to the start line from the expo area. The start line is about 300 feet east of the expo area on the trail. The finish line is also along the trail, not too far from the expo/parking area. Please make sure that your dog leash does not interfere with other racers’ efforts during the run, and keep your pooch under control.
The course is mapped out and posted on our website, (10kTurkeyTrek.com) so take a look at it before Saturday.None of the course is on the streets; it is all on concrete or crushed cinder trail. Please remember your racing etiquette and stay to the right, allowing room for faster runners to pass! The course is a 10k LOOP running in a clockwise direction. The first mile is crushed gravel like a dirt road (so pay attention not to turn an ankle.) The other 5+ miles of the trail is concrete. All mile increments and appropriate turns will be clearly marked. There will be a bike lead in front of the first racers.
2k Toddle is an out and back course with the same start and end point.
There will be port-a-johns in the Parking Lot. There are no restrooms on the course.
We will race rain or shine or snow. In the case of wet or snowy weather, please use caution on the course. Known ice patches will be addressed, of course, but there may be snow falling while you run. This is not broomball; you will not have a personal escort to sweep the new fallen snow from in front of you. The good news is that parking is SUPER close to the start/finish/expo, so a dry set of shoes and socks and a warm coat are really accessible as soon as you finish the race!
This challenge is completely OPTIONAL! Grab a 5 ounce cup of egg nog (non-alcoholic, but filled with dairy!) from a volunteer at the station. (Mile 3 of the 10k) The volunteer will record your bib number after you’ve consumed the complete 5 ounces. We’ll have a SEPARATE raffle just for those who chose to stop and chug the nog! This station is sponsored by Road Runner Sports who has given a free pair of shoes for the Egg Nog Chug Raffle! Results from that raffle will be posted at the 3W Tent after the last racer has passed the nog station. You may not earn extra raffle tickets by drinking more egg nog. There is a water station right after the nog station, so you can chase the dairy with some good old water!
At 1k left in the 10k race, (or at the turn around for the 2k Toddle) you will encounter the 'Fill Your Pie Hole' challenge station. Eat one piece of pumpkin pie (with your hands - no forks provided) and again, we'll record your bib number and enter you in a raffle for even more prizes! Results will be posted at the 3W Tent upon your return! One piece per runner, please. There is no water station after the pie - so be ready to taste the pumpkin all the way back to the finish! Both 10k and 2k runners may opt to participate in this challenge.
