Description
Join us for the FVS Reunion Virtual 5k - in honor of the Ha-Hatse Sachini.
Ha-Hatse Sachini, or “Prairie Warrior,” is a tribute to the 1680 Pueblo Revolt. In that year, the pueblos of New Mexico led by Pope, a San Juan Medicine man, took the Spanish rulers by storm. Pope devised an ingenious plan to signal the beginning of the revolt; runners from Taos were sent to each pueblo with identical knotted cords. Each knot on the cord represented a day; each morning a knot was untied, and when all the knots were gone, the revolt began. The Taos runners, in several days, ran to all pueblos in an attempt to take back their sacred land.
Compete (virtually and on your own schedule) against fellow alumni and other members of FVS community in this wonderful FVS tradition inspired by the Native American history of the Southwest. And, while you're running full sprint to the finish, you'll also be supporting the Scott Family Scholarship Endowment, which provides financial aid for Native American Students to attend FVS. This is a free event with donations optional, and you can run as an individual or as a team anytime between now and May 8. There are prizes for the top three runners in each birth year decade, as well as for the top three teams, which will be determined by averaging the times of all members of a given team.
